Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador Hotel
4 Star | 9th arr. | Opera Garnier | Moulin Rouge | The Louvre | Place Vendôme
Formerly known as the “Hotel Ambassador,” this hotel truly surpassed my expectations. Established in 1927, it’s ideally located on Boulevard Haussmann, right in the lively heart of Paris’ cultural and shopping scene.
I appreciated how easy it was to visit iconic attractions—Opera Garnier, Place Vendôme, Moulin Rouge, and the Louvre Museum are all just a short stroll away. Plus, the Musée d’Orsay is only 1.1 miles down the road.
The hotel’s design is absolutely beautiful. The blend of the classic Haussmann facade with modern, stylish furnishings creates an elegant atmosphere while paying tribute to the nearby Opera Garnier.
Dining here is great as well. The Sixtine Brasserie and Lindbergh Bar offer a variety of delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it incredibly convenient to enjoy excellent meals without venturing far.
Mandarin Oriental Paris
5 Star | Place Vendôme | 1st Arr. | Opulence | Indoor Pool
What can you really say about one of the premier hotel groups on Earth? Actually, you can say a lot. The Mandarin Oriental consistently makes some of the greatest and most expensive hotels on Earth.
The hotels themselves are an attraction to be discovered. I like to think that if our civilization happened to fall out of existence like the Romans and be rediscovered, it is properties like the Mandarin Oriental in Paris that would amaze archeologists.
At the Paris Mandarin Oriental, you’ll find outdoor gardens, an incredible pool, and incredibly designed rooms. The hotel features an incredible lobby, multiple dining facilities, an indoor heated pool, spacious rooms fitted with designer furniture, and is located in the 1st arrondissement which is the very center of Paris. It is located in Place Vendôme which is just about the nicest place in Paris.
Standard rooms start at around 700€/night and are very spacious at 400 square feet. Most have a nice view and beautiful decor. If you have money, this is the go-to choice for an over-the-top hotel in Paris.
Shangri-La Hotel Paris
5 Star | Trocadéro/Eiffel Tower | 16th Arr. | Classic Luxury | Indoor Pool
The Shangri-La is such an amazing property that focuses on an extremely wealthy and affluent clientele. They have these incredible spaces that have the same enormous feel as a Las Vegas casino without the annoying sounds of slot machines.
The rooms and suites are close to unparalleled. They have one of the most expensive suites in all of Paris and it happens to be larger than most people’s houses there.
Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris
5 Star | Champs-Élysées | 8th Arr. | It’s the Four Seasons… | Indoor Pool
I can honestly say I have never stayed at a Four Seasons in my lifetime but I have worked with their brand in the past and have most definitely visited their properties. It is hard to describe the sensation you get on-premises, but it could be loosely described as perfect.
They always have these perfect floral displays all over the hotel, amazing design, and beautiful furniture. These are some of the reasons why they can charge over a grand per night.
The George V property in Paris is one of the Four Seasons most amazing hotels as well. It has enormous dining facilities with tall ceilings, an incredible pool, and everything else that you may not have realized you wanted.
What I believe makes a great hotel is all the small intimate common spaces that you can occupy and be in the middle of everything yet feel completely private. Small outdoor gardens and indoor seating areas scattered about the property that leave you tempted to spend more time in your hotel than exploring Paris.
Hôtel de Crillon
5 Star | Jardins Champs-Élysées | 1st Arr. | French Luxury | Indoor Pool
Hôtel de Crillon is part of the Rosewood hotel group and is a crowning jewel of Paris, pun intended.
The hotel sits between the Louvre and the Champs-Élysées Gardens in Place de la Concorde. It is a beautifully designed grand hotel with a mix of French contemporary and classical styles.
It has beautiful rooms, dining facilities, bars, suites, and pool. The thing I like most about this property is you feel like you are 100% in France while inside. Some hotels try to be so modern, but Hôtel de Crillon achieves a luxury photo-worthy property that looks Parisian.
Hôtel Ritz Paris
5 Star | Place Vendôme | 1st Arr. | They Invented Luxury | Indoor Pool
According to Forbes, this hotel in Paris can take credit for the word “ritzy” which refers to excessively nice things. From the same source, they also coined the phrase, “the customer is never wrong.”
When you hear he name, you may think of the luxury hotel brand Ritz-Carlton. There is no affiliation other than the Ritz-Carlton naming their hotel group after the Hôtel Ritz in Paris.
The above definitely elevates the Ritz among the most historic hotels in Paris, but have they kept up with the larger international brands? From my research, the Ritz charges more than any other hotel on this list for a standard room often starting around $1300/night.
The hotel, like many others on this section of the list, is in Place Vendôme which is near the Louvre. It is perfect for an expensive but romantic weekend in Paris.

The Best Expensive Hotels
While the most expensive hotels are likely best for those with unlimited bank accounts, the hotels in this category are also great for high-income earners who enjoy splurging a little more for nice accommodations. Many of the best hotels in Paris are found in this section, so don’t hesitate to book.
Expensive Prices: While the prices of hotels change rapidly, expect these hotels to range from $350 to $649 per night for the standard rooms in these hotels and more for the high-end suites. That will obviously vary, so click the link which will take you to Booking.com to see current prices.
L’Hôtel Paris
5 Star | Pont Neuf/Siene River | 6th Arr. | Classic Luxury | Indoor Pool
L’Hôtel is one of my favorite hotels in all of Paris. It has an interesting early 20th-century design that makes you feel like you are part of a secret society. Oscar Wilde himself took up residence there at the end of the 19th century until his death.
From there, according to the hotel, it was frequented by Salvador Dali, Liz Taylor, Jim Morrison, Frank Sinatra, and other notables. Part of the draw is the small boutique feel and the historic building. There are only 20 rooms, a pool, and a iconic bar & restaurant in the lobby.
We love the hotel so much that we start our Super Expensive Food Tour in Paris in their lobby with cocktails. We love the mixture of luxury, haute cuisine, and history.
Hôtel D’Aubusson
5 Star | Pont Neuf | 6th Arr. | Amazing Decor | Indoor Pool
Hôtel D’Aubusson is a great way to stay at a very nice hotel for half the price of the Four Seasons. They have an amazing indoor pool and rooms that could compete with some of the uber-expensive hotels in Paris.
What you won’t get, with the exception of their incredible pool area, are large common spaces. The ultra-luxurious hotels charging $1k+ per night have taller ceilings and more impressive common areas. That said, are better common areas worth twice the price per night when the rooms look almost the same? Remember that you can always head to the Mandarin Oriental for a meal or cocktail while staying at the D’Aubusson.
For me, I will likely be looking at hotels of this caliber while planning a long-weekend in Paris with my wife.
Maison Souquet
5 Star | Moulin Rouge | 9th Arr. | Seductive | Indoor Pool
People travel for a lot of reasons and romance is definitely one of them. This hotel’s decor has seductive qualities that are perfect for a romantic trip with your spouse or romantic partner.
The building was once an upscale brothel (fully renovated and cleaned!) so the shoe fits. The hotel is in Montmartre which is perfect for a second visit to Paris since it is not in the middle of everything and has great views.
Hotel Goralska Résidences Hôtel Paris Bastille
4 Star | Place de Bastille | 4th Arr. | Suites
Goralska Résidences is a fantastic choice for traveling families or couples who simply want more space. It is in one of my personal favorite areas of Paris in the 4th near Île Saint-Louis and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Easy walking into Le Marais which has great restaurants and bars. This is an excellent choice if you can afford the near 300€+ per night rates on suites.

The Best Mid-Range Luxe Hotels in Paris
These rooms will start looking more and more obtainable but they still won’t qualify as “cheap.” Paris, in general, is an expensive city and the hotels sometimes leave you wondering what you spent your money on. This category will include comfortable, nice accommodation that is cheaper than pricey but more expensive than cheap.
Mid-Range Luxe Prices: While the prices of hotels change rapidly, expect these hotels to range from $225 to $349 per night for the standard rooms in these hotels and more for the high-end suites. That will obviously vary, so click the link which will take you to Booking.com to see current prices.
Villa D’Estrées
4 Star | Latin Quarter | 6th Arr. | Classically French
Villa D’Estées is a classically French hotel in the middle of the Latin Quarter of Paris which makes it prime real estate. It is priced surprisingly reasonably for Paris, but most definitely not cheap.
Rooms are decked out with wallpaper that gives the establishment a 19th century Napoleon Bonaparte feel. Definitely, a property to consider if you are looking for clean & comfortable accommodation close to the action with some common spaces.
Turenne Le Marais
3 Star | Le Marais | 4th Arr. | Modern
Comfortable hotel in great area for decent prices. You won’t find marble counters in your bathroom or large soaker tubs, but it’s a very clean hotel with good service in a perfect area.
Hôtel Madison
4 Star | St. Germain des Prés | 6th Arr. | Classically French
Like many other hotels in this category, Hôtel Madison is located on the left bank or “rive gauche”. There are tons of nearby cafes, bars, and cool restaurants. You are also reasonably within walking distance of Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Luxembourg Gardens, and a short taxi from the Paris Catacombs.
All in all, this one of the hotel I am likely to consider for a stay in Paris due to it being comfortable, in a great location, and reasonably priced.

The Best Low-Cost Hotels in Paris
The word “cheap” has a wide variety of meanings and when it comes to hotels, almost nothing is considered cheap in Paris. Still, here are the most affordable, clean hotels in Paris. This is the list of hotels I pick from when traveling to Paris.
I won’t recommend a crappy hotel which tend to be the cheapest. I have stayed in a few places that cost around $150 per night in Paris and they have often been a dump. It’s not a guarantee, but you can always check reviews to see what other people are saying. So, this list of low-cost or cheap hotels in Paris is going to be a little more expensive than you think, but it will be worth it to enjoy a comfortable stay.
Low-Cost Prices: While the prices of hotels change rapidly, expect these hotels to range from $175 to $249 per night for the standard rooms in these hotels and more for the high-end suites. That will obviously vary, so click the link which will take you to Booking.com to see current prices.
Hôtel Jeanne d’Arc Le Marais
3 Star | Le Marais | 4th Arr.
For a relatively inexpensive hotel, Hôtel Jeanne d’Arc is located in a great area, is clean and stylish. No, you won’t stay in a suite formerly occupied by Joséphine Bonaparte, but do you really need to?
Le Marais is very close to the two major Seine islands, the Louvre, Latin Quarter, and has a great food scene. I personally try and choose a new area each time I visit Paris, but would recommend Le Marais above all for first-time visitors to Paris.
Hotel de Flore
3 Star | Montmartre | 18th Arr.
Montmartre is a neighborhood known for three things. First, burlesque shows at the Moulin Rouge and other “adult” establishments. Second, amazing elevated views of Paris from Sacre-Cœur Basilica. Finally, a really cool local food scene.
This hotel is a clean and inexpensive option that puts you in a cool area with great access to central Paris.
Hôtel Du Haut Marais
3 Star | Le Marais (kind of) | 3rd Arr.
This hotel is my “go-to” hotel for business trips. It offers a lot of space in a modern, but cool space right in the center of Paris. Clean beds that are comfortable with all the amenities you’d want and sometimes even more.
Some rooms have cool soaker tubs that work great for a romantic stay or after a long day of walking around Paris! The hotel claims “Le Marais” but is about a block outside the unofficial boundaries. That said, it is basically right there and the price is right. I’ll take it!
Hotel De Seine
3 Star | Saint Germain Des Prés | 6th Arr.
Hotel De Seine is in an amazing location with a great price. Very close to the Seine, hence the name, on the left bank (rive gauche).
It is right on the border of the Latin Quarter, who’s food scene I prefer over Le Marais, and walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Ile Saint Louie, and the Luxembourg Gardens. Love this location and the price.
Rooms are nice enough for me and some have mini-balconies with decent street views. They hav a classic design that makes you feel like you are an aristocrat at a decent price.
