The 11 Best Hotels Near the 9/11 Memorial in 2025

Carissa Chesanek Last Updated: December 19, 2024

If you’re traveling to New York City to visit the 9/11 Memorial, you’ll likely need a place to stay. There are plenty of hotels to choose from in the area. But with all these choices it can be hard to determine which one is the best option. We’re here to help. Here’s our list of the best hotels near the 9/11 Memorial in NYC.

Top Hotels Near the 9/11 Memorial and the Financial District

There is a lot to explore at the 9/11 Memorial and the surrounding area itself since it’s located in the Financial District (FiDi) of New York City. Check out our top things to see at or near the 9/11 Memorial for a helpful guide to this area.

With all the exploring you can do here, you’ll need a place to crash at the end of the day. There are a few hotels options close to the actual memorial and museum, but there are even more hotels a few blocks away in the heart of FiDi.

Whether you’re here for a day or a weekend, if you’re planning to see the 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street, Battery Park, and the Statue of Liberty, this is the area you want to stay in. Here are our picks for the best hotels near the 9/11 Memorial.

World Center Hotel

$$ | 4 Star | Comfy Casual | City Views

With less than a five-minute walk to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the World Center Hotel is quick and easy to get to. But it’s also close to the other big attractions as well, such as Battery Park City and One World Observatory. And since it’s so close, you’ll get solid views of the Memorial, the New York Harbor, and the Financial District.

We especially like checking out the views from the hotel’s rooftop terrace. The guest rooms are casual but comfortable with small workstations. The suites offer more space with a kitchenette that has a sink, refrigerator, and microwave. And each floor on the property has its own purified water station. And for the location, it comes at a pretty great price too.

Artezen Hotel

$ | 4 Star | Modern Chic | Private Outdoor Terrace

The Artezen Hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay at a good rate, including super-soft pillow-top mattresses and Nespresso coffee makers in the serene, neutral rooms. What we really love here is the deluxe queen or king rooms that have their own private outdoor terraces with views of the city.

Another big win is they offer yoga to their guests which is a great way to unwind after roaming the city. It’s also close to the Fulton Center subway station along with One World Trade Center and South Street Seaport.

Moxy NYC Downtown

$$ | 4 Star | Sleek and Trendy | Boozy Arcade

We like the Moxy for many reasons. It’s conveniently located within the Financial District and Chinatown neighborhood, making it close to all the local attractions. Think: the New York Stock Exchange and One World Trade Center. But it’s also a cool space with lots to do like the arcade bar called Recreation. Here, you can play anything from Donkey Kong to basketball while sipping on an adult beverage.

It’s a great way to pre-game for the evening or to end the night after being out all day. And let’s not forget about the rooms. You’ll enjoy 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows with epic views of Lower Manhattan and comfy denim robes to wear while lounging. The rooms are modern and sleek with leather headboards and a swing chair that’s fun to hang in (literally).

Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel

$$ | 4 Star | Fun & Hip | Intimate Wine Bar

The Gild Hall, a Thompson Hotel, is a hip spot. You’ll find it sitting pretty in the Financial District (within walking distance to Wall Street) with an interior decked out in redbrick, rich woods, and dark leathers. The guest rooms will cost you a little over $200 per night and feature marble floors in the bathroom.

The penthouse suite is pretty impressive with a dining area that can fit up to eight people—more than most city apartments can fit. But that extra space will cost you about $950 per night or more. We love the hotel’s cozy wine bar, La Soffitta, which only seats up to 35 guests and gives off an intimate feel. The hotel’s Italian restaurant Felice Ristorante is also not one to miss, especially for its homemade pasta.

Aloft Manhattan Downtown – Financial District

$ | 3 Star | Vibrant Getaway | 24-Hour Café | Pet Friendly

You’ll have a little longer walk to the 9/11 Memorial (about 15 minutes) when you stay at the Aloft Manhattan Downtown, but you’re close to the New York Stock Exchange. The rooms are colorful and fun with 9-foot-high ceilings and big windows offering views of the Financial District.

The grab-and-go café called Re:fuel is open 24 hours, which makes snacking convenient no matter the time of day. There’s also the W XYZ bar that’s a great spot for drinks and a game of pool. And if you’re heading to NYC with your pooch, the staff provides a bed, bowl, treats, and toys to keep your fur baby happy.

Sonder Duane Street

$ | 4 Star | Sweet and Charming | Peloton Suite

We’re all about the Sonder Duane Street hotel because it’s so darn charming. The rooms are decked out in light woods and pale hues, making them bright and inviting. The king suite comes with a Peloton (if you can’t miss a session!) and also has a sofa bed for additional guests.

What’s nice is the suites here don’t have that stuffy penthouse vibe, but they look and feel more like a city apartment. The same goes for the cozy little lobby where you might think you’re hanging out in a friend’s living room instead of a hotel. When we’re here, we love checking out the local art galleries nearby.

Millennium Downtown New York City

$$ | 4 Star | Posh | Prime Location

The rooms at the Millennium Downtown New York City may be small but the location makes up for it. The hotel is parked directly across the street from the Westfield World Trade Center and is only a short walk from the 9/11 Memorial.

It’s also close to several subway stops, including Cortlandt Street and World Trade Center, and right next to St. Paul’s Chapel of Trinity Church. You can even get to the Brooklyn Bridge by foot in under 10 minutes!

The rooms come with big windows and some even offer nice views of the city. There’s also a bar on the property called Liquid Assets plus a restaurant called Church & Dey that serves American cuisine.

Coming to NYC soon? Here’s what you need to know about visiting the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorials, and the amazing Metropolitan Museum of Art.

New York Marriott Downtown

$$$ | 4 Star | Sophisticated Luxury | 2-Bedroom Suites

The New York Marriott Downtown is your best bet for a luxurious stay. Guest rooms are newly renovated and have marble bathrooms and sophisticated white-and-brown decor. There are club-level rooms that provide access to the Club Lounge, while the two-bedroom suite offers lots of extra space for when you’re traveling with others.

Many rooms and suites come with views of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. And getting anywhere you want to be won’t take long. One World Trade Center, Oculus, and the 9/11 Memorial are just a quick walk away.

The Leon Hotel

$ | 3 Star | Home Away From Home | Solid Customer Service

This is the place to stay when you want to be close to the attractions but not right on top of them (or the other tourists). The Leon Hotel is a short drive of under 15 minutes to the 9/11 Memorial and just about a mile away from Soho.

With a location like this, you have options of where you want to go, see, and do, which is always appreciated. Most of the neutral-toned rooms come with views of the city. The hotel is also known to have some of the comfiest beds around. We like the customer service here too. The property has a tour desk to help with planning and a front desk that is open 24 hours.

Hyatt Centric Wall Street

Photo courtesy of Hyatt Centric Wall Street

$$ | 4 Star | Bright and Airy | Spacious Rooms

It’s great that the Hyatt Centric Wall Street is close to everything, including the New York Stock Exchange and World Trade Center. But what we really love about this hotel are the rooms. The guest rooms are modern with 11-foot ceilings and light oak floors.

The whole feel is bright and airy, making for an inviting getaway that doesn’t feel like you’re in the middle of the city. Plus, the rooms are pretty spacious, starting at 345 square feet. The suites can include a king bed and a separate living room, along with vaulted ceilings.

The hotel serves global cuisine at its restaurant Wall & Water and cocktails at Centric Bar & Grill. But since this property is so close to one of our favorite bars, the Dead Rabbit, we’re likely drinking there.

Fairfield Inn New York Manhattan/Financial District

$$ | 3 Star | Urban Escape | Free Breakfast

You’ll be able to get to One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial, and Wall Street without much hassle when you stay at this hotel. The rooms at Fairfield Inn New York Manhattan/Financial District are also pretty decent and well priced. The guest rooms are stylish and funky with pops of colors and prints.

There’s also the option for a larger room that comes with its own balcony. But what really excites us here is the complimentary breakfast buffet served every day. It’s the little things that can really make a room stand out above the competition in an expensive city like New York.
