Cañete is a must visit when you are in the center of Barcelona and one of the true culinary jewels of the Raval in Barcelona. Well known as one of the best restaurants in town the interior of this Spanish bistro is inviting and well decorated with a classic “barra” displaying some of the delicious fare you can order.

Specializing in amazing Spanish and Catalan dishes with their own signature touches they never cease to delight locals and visitors alike with their commitment to quality seafood, locally sourced meats and tapas, all with top notch presentation. While restaurants in Barcelona are not always known for their quality of service Cañete really goes the extra mile to make sure diners are happy.

Succulent restaurant is located right along the lively Rambla del Raval and offers terrace dining in addition to their simple but tastefully decorated dining room. With a menu inspired by classic dishes in the cannon of Spanish and local culinary tradition, the creativity behind each and every dish on their menu is one of the reasons locals flock to this popular location.

Ordering from the tapas menu is always a difficult decision as you have to choose from so many mouthwatering tapas like their red prawn ceviche with avocado and fresh corn. My personal recomendadtion for this spot is to order one of their set tasting menus that highlight some of their iconic dishes and really give you an idea of how much thought and creativity they put into every detail.

Chaka Khan is a great stop for a well priced meal of international fare in the heart of the Raval district. Located right at the top of the Rambla del raval Chaka Khan has a very friendly staff that will make sure you have a delightlful dining experience.

Specialising in cusine from around the world Chaka Khan offers dishes from a dizzying array of countries. I reccommend the pork ribs cooked with peruvian yellow chilies, or the Dorada (Sea bream) with white miso.

El Nacionale is proof that the bar for dining is set high in Barcelona. It is a gorgeous interior that gives the feel that you are dining in the most gorgeous food court imaginable. There are 8 different bars and restaurants inside the area specializing in different types of foods. I would sit down at the oyster bar, Ostras, and then possibly head over to the Taperia after.

This is my top lunch restaurant near Paseig de Gràcia.

Bar Leopoldo is a reboot of a true institution in the Raval that has been serving up classic Spanish fare for generations. Well known among locals this is a great dinner place to enjoy a well prepared rice, perfectly grilled meats, great tapas and classics from the Catalan cooking tradition. After a well deserved facelift the Bar Leopoldo (Formerly Casa Leopoldo) the decoration is even more inviting than before and you will love the attention to detail both in the food and the decoration.

Try anything on the menu and I am sure you will be delighted. You can enjoy the crunch of great fried calamari from their tapas menu and the Samfaina is a Catalan classic with plenty of veggies and Cod that they give special attention to. The desserts are Spanish classics as well and I never leave without my ration of their perfectly cooked Flan.

Mamacafe is a simple and friendly place that serves up a great lunch at very reasonable prices. A spacious interior invites you inside for a wonderful meal of Spanish food and dishes that are healthy and flavorful. While this is a exclusivley a lunch spot I make it a point to enjoy their lunch menu as often as possible because it is such a good deal!

They have a typical Spanish lunch menu which lets you select a first and second dishes and includes a drink and desert, all for about 13€! They always have feshly caught local fish, locally sourced meats and of course a vegetarian option for those who want a healthy choice.

Chivuos is a great place to get a quick bite to eat as you are exploring the Raval area in Barcelona because they make some of the tastiest Burgers and Sandwiched in town. To top it off you can sample some great local craft beers together with your great sandwiches in a simple but cosy place that dosn’t need the pomp and circumstance to stand out.

Well know among locals for having addictingly good burgers their sandwishes are just as good. Try the puled pork sandwich and you won’t be dissapointed, ad while you are at it you might want to get extra cheese on top to make it even better!
