€€ | Catalan Cuisine | Hidden Gem

This restaurant is in the little town of Collbattó, which is about a 30-minute ride from the Abbey of Montserrat. When I travel, I like to visit little towns to get a super local feel. That’s what you’ll get when you come here.

They are only open for lunch, so it’s perfect if you’ve just finished visiting the Abbey of Montserrat. You can go with their set menu or order à la carte. There’s something for everyone here and it won’t disappoint.

Address: Carrer Muntanya, 1, 08293 Collbató

€€€ | Modern Cuisine | Great Atmosphere

This is definitely the best option if you’re looking for a nice, sit-down meal. As you walk in, it seems like you’re in a cave, which adds to the cool atmosphere.

Lunch will set you back around €35 per person, including wine. The price vs. quality ratio is great and the menu offers various meat and fish options.

Address: Plaza del Monasterio, s/n, 08199 Monestir de Montserrat

Bar de la Plaça

€ | Bar | Something for Everyone

This establishment is up on the left-hand side of the hill. As the name says, it’s mainly a bar. But it also serves as a restaurant for lunch and dinner. The menu is sure to make everyone happy as they serve everything. From coffee to sandwiches, it’s the perfect place for a break during your sightseeing adventure.

Address: 08293 Monestir de Montserrat

Cafeteria

€ | Simple and Easy | On the Go

This is a no-frills and to-the-point cafeteria. It’s also one of the most convenient places to eat when you’re in a hurry. There’s no reason to sugarcoat it; the food is decent for what you pay.

I’ve eaten here and the food honestly isn’t bad. They have a wide variety of options and there’s definitely something for everyone. Many people eat here for convenience, since it’s right next to the Abbey of Montserrat.

€€ | Vegan Friendly | Great Atmosphere

This restaurant is in the town of Monistrol of Montserrat about 8 miles or a 20-minute car ride from the monastery. It’s by far one of the best restaurants in the area, so if you happen to be coming by car, this is a great place for lunch or dinner after exploring the monastery.

They tend to offer 3-course lunch meals that include wine. While the price varies, the actual price vs. quality ratio is quite good. The wine they serve is local and pairs perfectly with the food.

Address: Carrer Sant Joan, 32, 08691 Monistrol de Montserrat

Restaurante Bartomeu

€€ | Family Run | Catalan Cuisine

This restaurant is about a 15-minute drive from the Abbey. It’s next to the river and is no frills. Sometimes, simple is better. Especially when that’s the original plan of the owners, as is the case here. When you walk in, you’ll be greeted with a smile and it’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time a bit.

The restaurant is a lunch place and has a simple menu. They offer you a set menu, which costs €13 during the week and €15 on Saturday or Sunday. This includes their house wine. Enjoy!

Address: C-55, km 14, 08691 Monistrol de Montserrat,

€€ | Outdoor Seating | Unique Experience

This gem is in a little town called El Bruc, which is about 30 minutes from the Abbey. It’s located inside a natural reserve and that’s part of what makes it special.

Their menu changes daily and they only use fresh, local ingredients. This restaurant is perfect if you’re planning to spend the entire day out in the area. This way, in the morning you can visit the abbey and then come here for a 3-hour lunch in the countryside.

Flor de Sal

€€€ | Creative Cuisine | Warm Atmosphere

This restaurant is in the little town called Esparreguera, which is about a 25-minute drive from the Abbey. It has a lovely warm atmosphere, sure to make you fell welcome.

I call the cuisine creative because you’ll see that the dishes they create come in many shapes and sizes. But the most important thing is that the food they serve is delicious. You might drive right past this town on your way to the Abbey, but if you get a chance to stop, take advantage of it!

Address: Carrer del Dr. Salvador Cortadellas, 2, 08292 Esparreguera,

Bar L’Era Restaurant

€€ | Meat Restaurant | Locals

This is the perfect place to visit after hiking around the Abbey of Montserrat in the morning. It’s about 20 minutes from the Abbey itself by car and you’ll find yourself among the locals.

People come here for meat—usually chicken or beef. You can have your choice of chicken, ribs, or even a perfectly cooked rib-eye on the grill. Whatever you choose, it will be a hearty meal that fills you up. Wash it all down with a bold rioja and your life is complete!
