How To Get To The Prague Castle

You can get to the castle in a number of ways that will depend on your location and choice of transportation. If you like to walk and the idea of wandering the cobbled streets of the Mala Strana neighborhood sounds good to you, then the best route to the castle would be via the Charles Bridge. The most beautiful way is across Neruda Street.

Another option is a walk from Malostranská station, following the path on the stairs of the old castle. The quickest way is by tram—take the number 22 or 23 tram and get off at Prasky hrad station (Prague castle).

Tours Of The Castle

Taking a guided tour of the Prague Castle is the best way to explore the massive palace grounds and the stunning cathedral you’ll find here. It can be overwhelming to try to see it all on your own and to learn as much as possible. There are audio guide tours you can take from the castle, or you can opt for a local, English-speaking guide to lead the way.

Important Things to Know

Finally, I will add a few tips that might come in handy.

Golden Lane:

Entrance to the Golden lane is normally charged. If you want to visit it and save money, you can go in the summer season after 5 pm and in the winter after 4 pm for free. The small houses will be closed, but you will still have the opportunity to walk around or take photos of the iconic space.

The route to the castle:

Like many castles, the Prague Castle is located on a hilltop. Therefore, I would recommend you to go up on the tram and then take a nice walk to the center.

Places to eat:

If you want to enjoy something to eat, there are many fantastic restaurants near Prague Castle.
