Centro (Downtown)
Restaurants:
- Bajau Seafood & Steak House | steak | make rsvp
- K’ooben Laab | Mediterranean | dinner | make rsvp
- Kondesa Restaurant | Mexican seafood | get there early
The Best Hotels in Centro:
Ordinarily I wouldn’t suggest flying all the way to a tropical island to stay in a hotel that’s right in town, but you don’t go to Cozumel to site at a resort all day. Cozumel is all about snorkeling, diving, and tearing around the island in a jeep. The centro area has a lot of great restaurants, a pedestrian street and is right by the ferry dock for easy access to tours & activities.
Cozumel Palace
3-Star | $$ | waterfront | spa | gym | kids club
This is a solid all-inclusive option. Guests at the Cozumel Palace can enjoy top-notch amenities, including spacious suites, infinity pools, and personalized service, within walking distance to town.
Casa Mexicana
3-star | $$ | ferry views| rooftop pool | downtown
This hotel is just across the street from the ferry dock and it’s a great choice if you want to be in town.
North Cozumel
North Cozumel is my top pick for staying on the island because it’s filled with small hotels that have their very own snorkeling reefs. It’s a quiet spot where you can easily enjoy the ocean right outside your door, perfect for anyone who loves the water. Plus its close enough to town to head into the centro for dinner each night.
Restaurants:
- Buccanos | beach club | lunch & dinner | make rsvp
The Best Hotels in North Cozumel
Hotel B Unique
3-star | $$$ | snorkeling on site | adults only | wellness
Hotel B Unique is a great choice for an adults-only trip. Fresh, healthy food, bike rentals and snorkeling onsite.
Hotel Playa Azul
3-star | $$ | pool | snorkeling onsite | two restaurants
Hotel Playa Azul is one of my favorite hotels in the whole world. It’s not fancy, but the onsite snorkeling is amazing, and the restaurants serve really great Mexican food. Its an especially great choice if you’re traveling with kids.
Westin Cozumel
4-star | $$$ | beachfront | all-inclusive option | pools
The Westin is right next door to Playa Azul and the snorkeling is equally amazing. The free kids club is a nice touch if your kids actually want to attend. All in all this is a great choice if you’re looking to burn some Marriott points, but I wouldn’t pay full price.
South Cozumel
South Cozumel is a must-visit for adventure seekers, known for its lush nature parks and world-class diving spots. It’s the perfect place for those who want to explore the island’s vibrant marine life and enjoy outdoor activities in a stunning setting.
Restaurants:
- Marley’s | Jamaican | beachfront | otherworldly
- Albertos | beach club | lunch & dinner | great seafood
Explorean Cozumel
4-star | $$$ | Pool | trendy | all-inclusive
Explorean Cozumel is perfect for anyone looking to mix adventure with comfort, offering all-inclusive deals, cozy rooms, and fun outdoor trips. Here, you can relax in a beautiful, natural jungle setting and try out exciting activities like snorkeling and hiking.
Intercontinental Cozumel Resort
4-star | $$$$ | all-inclusive | spa
The Intercontinental Cozumel is a fantastic choice for a luxury stay, with its beautiful beachfront setting, spacious rooms, and top-notch service. Guests can enjoy a range of amenities like a spa, gourmet dining, and water sports, all while surrounded by stunning sea views.
