Travel Insurance
Life can be unpredictable and our cancellation policy is as good as it gets for tours in Europe. We offer 24 hours prior to your tour start time to cancel almost free of charge. The problem is 99% of people that cancel or can’t make their tour do so within the 24 hours. A majority of no-shows or cancellations are due to a cancelled flight, traffic or a delayed train.
Our policy is created this way to protect our tour guides. If a tour is cancelled, this gives them enough time to be scheduled on another tour and continue to work. Our season is only about 6 to 8 months long so tour guides need assurance that they will be provided work.
We recommend travel insurance to protect you from what happens within the 24 hour cancellation policy. So don’t take a risk and ensure your tours and travel with a well-known travel insurance company.
We recommend Travel Guard, but shop around and make sure you get everything in writing. The Tour Guy recommends Travel Guard, but we don’t get involved in the policies before, during or after purchase. We can’t guarantee they will cover everything so ask a lot of questions and like I said, get it in writing!
One piece of advice we will give is that they will only cover losses or damages if you have official documentation. If your train is delayed or cancelled, they’ll want a letter from the train company. If your bag is lost or stolen, they’ll want a police report. Also, book your policy within 15 days of purchasing your travel.
