Your tour begins at Piazza del Duomo
Meet your guide near Via de Lamberti, steps from Santa Maria del Fiore's famous pink, white, and green marble façade. Your guide introduces the structure and its place in Florentine history before the group enters.
Explore the cathedral interior
Skip the long ticket lines and step inside the soaring nave of Santa Maria del Fiore. Your guide decodes Paolo Uccello's famous astronomical clock, Vasari's dome frescoes, and Bandinelli's Renaissance marble choir.
Step onto the exclusive Duomo terraces
Climb 153 steps through passageways sealed from the public for centuries and emerge onto the terraces at 55 metres (180 ft). Standing face-to-face with the dome's marble exterior, you'll see the Baptistery directly below.
Ascend between the shells of Brunelleschi's Dome
Next, climb 310 more steps through the narrow space between Brunelleschi's two dome shells. The Vasari-Zuccari Last Judgment fresco passes at eye level, a perspective unavailable to anyone on the cathedral floor.
Reach the summit of Brunelleschi's Dome
Emerge at the lantern, 91 metres (300 ft) above the Piazza del Duomo, for a 360-degree panorama of Florence. Your guide names the rooftops, from Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi to the Tuscan hills rolling south toward Siena.
Your tour ends where you first began
Descend back to the Piazza del Duomo and bid your group farewell. Your 72-hour pass is valid to revisit the Baptistery, Giotto's Bell Tower, the crypt, and the Opera del Duomo Museum at your own pace.

Dress Code: Santa Maria del Fiore is a place of worship, so both men and women must cover their knees and shoulders. No shorts or sleeveless tops are permitted. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry by staff.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible. The climb involves 463 narrow steps, includes low-ceiling passages between the dome's two shells, and is not suitable for guests with heart conditions, severe claustrophobia, or significant mobility limitations. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns about your mobility.
Age Restriction: Children under 7 are not admitted on this tour due to the narrow stairs and steep climb involved.
Bag Policy: Bulky backpacks and large bags are not permitted for the terrace and dome climb. Please leave them at your accommodation.

Our guide Francesca thoughtfully guided us through the crowds bringing the history of the cathedral to life. She was able to provide a thorough account without overwhelming us. She was passionate about her city and showed us its iconic sites from the amazing vantage points gained by this particular climb and tour. Our small group was sometimes the only one in an area so we felt very pleased we had chosen this particular tour for a more unique personal experience. She was able to suggest the most shaded spots to stand in the heat and kept a steady pace on the climb. It just became a little crowded just at the end of our time at the top of the dome. A unique experience - a thoroughly interesting view of the inside construction of the magnificent dome and views from the outer rim of it. Reasonable average fitness required to see the amazing views of Florence.

We had Stefano as our guide and he was fantastic. We were able explore the terraces of the Duomo, an area that is exclusive to only a few tour groups to see an amazing view of Florence. After the terraces, we climbed to the top of the Dome. We learned so much and had a great time.
