Our guide Lorri provided great background information about Renaissance Florence. She discussed Michelangelo's artistic career and pointed our details on both his unfinished work and David. Her area of study was Renaissance art and I appreciated her knowledge. She was also kind enough to show us a nearby gelatoria with a public toilet! This is a big deal in a city like Florence.

Our tour of the Accademia Gallery in Florence was excellent — and I don’t say that lightly. Our guide was an alum of the arts university connected to the Accademia and her insights were illuminating. She was well organized, making stops at key artistic works to gently educate us. She maneuvered our group of 17 through the crowd like a magician. My only regret is that I had no euros handy to tip her for she well deserved it. A very pleasant experience for certain.

This tour was ideal for someone who may not be a history or art enthusiast and unsure if they want to commit time to take a tour. Lori provided incredible and detailed background on the Medici family and why they were so passionate about art and preserving classical culture. On the way to David, she provided really interesting facts about other works. Of course, she was extremely knowledgeable about the Statue of David and highlighted lesser known information. I would highly recommend this tour, especially with Lori!
