A short walk brings you to the Capuchin Crypts beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione. With an audio guide in hand, explore the eerie chapels lined with the bones of 3,700 friars, learning how these intricate displays reflect centuries of monastic tradition.
Take private van transport along the Appian Way
Next, settle into a comfortable van for a ride toward the catacombs. Along the way, you’ll glimpse ancient sites like the Appian Way, the Aurelian Walls, and even the Circus Maximus, all while hearing stories of Spartacus and Rome’s great defenses.
Explore Rome's ancient underground Catacombs
Then, head underground into one of 3 of Rome’s most iconic catacombs (Catacombs of St. Callixtus, Catacombs of St. Sebastian, or Domitilla Catacombs). Explore narrow corridors, frescoed chambers, and burial spaces once reserved for martyrs and popes, uncovering the city’s early Christian history with your guide’s insights. The exact site visited depends on the day and time of your tour.

Good to know:
Dress Code: Both men and women must cover their knees and shoulders for entry to religious sites. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry and miss out on a portion of the tour. No hats please.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs and tight spaces. If you have questions or concerns about your mobility, please contact us beforehand.
Catacombs visited: The catacombs you visit depend on your tour time. The 9:45 am tour visits the Domitilla Catacombs (except on Tuesdays it visits St. Sebastian), the 10:10 am tour visits the Catacombs of St. Callixtus (except on Wednesdays it visits St. Sebastian), and the 2:50 pm tour visits the Catacombs of St. Sebastian (except on Mondays it visits St. Callixtus).
Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in at the meeting point so the group can enter sites on time.

Toured the Capuchin Monk Crypts and San Callisto Catacombs. The Crypt was a self guided tour so you could peruse at your own pace. It was eerily very interesting. The Catacombs were a guided tour and the guide did a good job. I found it a little short and could be expanded. Overall the tour was very good and would recommend!

Very interesting tour from the typical museum tours. Showcases times and areas outside the city walls with catacombs and the tunnel system with the underground 'church' of the 3rd-4th century AD. Interesting history. Very good guide at the catacombs. Re: the Capuchin Crypts, it was interesting to see how they lived their austere life of service and their shrines which acknowledged death in a different way. That portion of the tour is an automated audio tour. It may or may not be interesting for everyone, but definitely different. One key benefit was that a fair part of the tour being underground, was much cooler and provided relief from the summer heat we contended with every day other day of our visit this summer.

We absolutely loved our Cappuchin Crypts & St. Peter’s Basillica tour with Davide. Everything was so well organized. The tour guides were easy to find and ran smoothly and both tour experiences were absolutely fascinating!! Davide was so friendly, engaging and a great guide for our group. We really appreciated his wealth of knowledge! Highly recommend this tour! Just remember the Cappuchin crypts require shoulders and knees to be covered.

The tour itself was a great experience and would recommend it. But what the experience even more special is the tour guide. Out guide, Arvin, was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive and knowledgeable which only enhanced already spectacular tour.

The Capuchin Crypts are a must see. You also get a bit of a tour while being transported from the crypts to the catacombs. It was nice to be indoors and have air conditioned transportation on a 99 degree day in Rome
