This Pompeii tour from Rome was one of a kind. Once our group arrived in Pompeii, it was split into two smaller groups. Sasha, our local guide was absolutely amazing. He did mention he grew up in Pompei, but even without mentioning, it was clear the guy knew every single rock we were walking on and in addition to his deep knowledge of the area, he inherited tons of information from his dad who also was a guide. I thought I knew almost everything about Pompeii, but thank to Sasha I learned so many new details, I would certainly never read about them from the books. Overall, the tour was informative and it did not lack Italian humour.
Review of Tour Experience of Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast Day Trip from Rome: Meeting Point Confusion

The recent tour I participated in had a significant issue with the meeting point, which was particularly challenging for foreign tourists.
Lack of Clarity: The intersection square area meeting point was big. The time we was meeting very dark during fall season and we had a hard time to find the Pyramid. There were many people were waiting in front the Piramide metro station because they assume Italian name Piramide as Pyramid name. Also the area of Piramide metro station was bright during dark time. I was lucky to see the meeting point and led them to it. The instructions provided were vague, making it difficult to locate the exact meeting spot. There were no clear landmarks or signs, and the description was not easily understandable for non-native speakers.
Language Barrier: Many tourists struggled with the language barrier, by trying to ask Italian local people for help in English. This added to the confusion and frustration, especially for those unfamiliar with the area.
Need for Improvement: It would greatly enhance the experience if the tour organizers could provide clearer instructions. Additionally, having staff available Piramide metro station to assist tourists would be beneficial.
Overall, while the tour itself was enjoyable, the initial confusion regarding the meeting point detracted from the experience. Addressing this issue could significantly improve future tours for international visitors.
Impressive!

The first thing you need to know is that this is a *long* day. We met at 6:30am and returned at 8:45pm. Mari was our guide for the whole day. She kept us entertained during the long rides with history, local flavor, and humor.
As our visit (November) was out of season, the order of stops was reversed due to Pompeii having reduced hours. We drove the 3 hours there, stopping halfway for a rest break at a place that also sold food/drink. Pompeii was incredible - in the 2 hours we had there, we only saw a small portion. You could easily spend a whole day here. Our local guide Victoria was very knowledgeable and friendly.
After a break for lunch we continued on to Positano - the entire drive there was beautiful. We had to switch from our large motorcoach to a smaller bus to navigate the narrow roads.
Positano is built on the side of a mountain and has very few flat spots until you get to the beach. We had 90 minutes to shop, eat, and enjoy the scenery.
The ride back to Rome was long, but I ended the day less tired than on other go-go-go days. We stopped at the same place for a rest break briefly.
All in all it was an excellent way to see history and a beautiful resort town along the Amalfi Coast.

This trip was long-but great. Paola was amazing, going beyond her required job duties by giving us a history lesson on areas we drove past. She’s very open, friendly and welcoming. Antonello was our driver, and was very professional. He was also nice to me and helpful when I accidentally left my cards on the bus when we arrived to Positano.

Our guide, Mari (English version) and the bus driver were a fabulous duo to keep us informed and safe on winding roads. To be able to see Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Positano all in one day with someone else driving and an extremely engaging expert guiding us was a rich experience for my husband and me. DO IT as this trip should be on everyone’s bucket list.
