Montmartre
The day begins in Montmartre. Set above the city center, the neighborhood provides much more than an amazing panorama of the city. Home to the Sacre-Coeur Basilica but also the Moulin Rouge and other famous cabaret and burlesque clubs, it is a crossroads of history and culture.
As Paris is the world's most romantic city, see the Wall of Love, a large mural expressing love in many languages. An example of Montmartre's great street art, it is a great appetizer to the more traditional works at the Louvre.
Louvre
Skip the line and enter the world's largest art museum. Formerly the royal palace, the Louvre became a museum over 200 years ago. Your expert guide will lead you on a trailblazing route seeing the most famous works as well as hidden gems in an efficient manner.
Visiting the Louvre can easily be an all day experience. On this tour though, your guide will show you all the must see paintings and statues including the Mona Lisa, Venus of Milo, Liberty Leading the People and much more.
When entering the museum and bypassing the crowds, examine the I.M. Pei designed pyramid that is still a major controversy amongst Parisians. Whether you love the pyramid or it's not your favorite, your guide will describe its history and architectural impression.
Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter
Though Notre Dame is not expected to reopen from its tragic fire until 2024, you will pass by the great Gothic church taking in its immense beauty. Crossing the Seine from Notre Dame, you will see the influential Shakespeare and Company. Both a bookstore and cafe, it is full of history. Both Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce would hang out, drink coffee, and write their stories from the scenic cafe looking over the river and Notre Dame.
From the cafe, you will head through the Latin Quarter home to the world famous Sorbonne university. A cultural center for centuries, take in the shops and sites of the neighborhood. From their you will hop on the metro to the Eiffel Tower for the final stretch of the day.
Eiffel Tower
After lunch, you will skip the line and climb (by elevator) the Eiffel Tower. From above take in the amazing views of the city that you have spent the day exploring.
Built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1899 World's Fair, it surpassed Philadelphia City Hall as the tallest building on Earth. The symbol of Paris still dominates the Parisian skyline and is a must-see during your trip. By skipping the line, save potentially hours to enjoy a wonderful French dinner after the tour.
Seine River Cruise with Champagne
Once you descend the Eiffel Tower, head down to the river and hop on a luxurious river boat. This cruise down the Seine is the perfect way to end your private tour of Paris. Have a glass of Champagne as the boat passes the great sites you visited throughout the day. Au revoir et a bientôt!
