Wow, our tour was wonderful. It was not at closing time. It was 3 PM and the museum was still very busy. Since I was thinking it was closing time. I was hoping to get a better view of the Mona Lisa, but it was super crowded. Our guide, however, was wonderful and very accommodating to my youngest child. That was a little warm in the museum and tired.

Carolina, our tour guide, met us on time. Initial check in person told us the tour would be 2.5 hours (until 6 pm). Tour lasted 1.75 hours. All we were exposed to in the Louvre was art, nothing else. Carolina was very knowledgeable and focused on the art. Very good English. We just thought on this whirlwind tour, we would get an overview of all the Louvre had to offer, not just art.

If you plan to visit the Louvre without going on a tour, DON’T!! It is the most difficult maze I’ve ever seen. Our guide, Veronica made traversing the Louvre easy. She took us to the best parts and provided pertinent information as we went from one masterpiece to another. Yes, we saw Mona Lisa and other major art pieces. But the most interesting and unexpected part to me was going down to where the original medieval foundation walls have been uncovered. Veronica has extensive knowledge of the many pieces of art we visited. When the 2 hour tour was over, my wife and I decided to visit other areas on our own. That’s when we discovered how difficult it is to find items on our own, even with the Louvre provided map. Probably the most difficult thing was finding our way out of the Louvre. The maze of hallways, stairs and levels is incredible. All in all, the tour was worth every penny with Veronica’s knowledge and direction. So, make sure you book a tour because guides like Veronica always know best.
