Your Rome in a Day tour begins just outside the Vatican walls, where you'll meet your expert guide and small group. This is the perfect spot to get acquainted with your guide and prepare to bypass the general admissions crowds with your included timed entry access to the world-famous Vatican Museums.

Stepping out into the Roman streets, you’ll embark on a picturesque walking tour of Rome's iconic squares and fountains. You’ll stroll through the magnificent Piazza Navona, admire the outside of the majestic Pantheon, and finally arrive at the Trevi Fountain, where your guide will explain the tradition of tossing a coin to ensure your return to Rome.
Pause for a lunch break near Trevi Fountain
Next, take a pause in your explorations for a well-deserved break for lunch. You will have free time to find a local eatery near the Trevi Fountain to recharge and sample some of the city’s delicious cuisine before continuing your journey into ancient Rome.
Explore the Roman Forum
A short walk from the Colosseum, you’ll find yourself amid the sprawling ruins of the Roman Forum, once the political and commercial epicenter of the Roman Empire. Trace the footsteps of emperors and citizens as your guide brings the area's highlights, like the Arch of Titus, to life, detailing what daily life was like in ancient Rome.
Use timed entry tickets to tour the Colosseum
Bypass the long queue once more and step inside the mighty Flavian Amphitheater, better known as the Colosseum. Your guide will set the scene for the thrilling and often gruesome events that occurred here—from gladiator fights to public spectacles. Explore the first and second tiers, visualizing the spectacle from the vantage point of Rome's ancient elite.
Your tour finishes at the Colosseum
Your full day, guided adventure concludes inside or near the Colosseum, depending on your assigned ticket time. Your guide will bid you farewell, leaving you perfectly situated to continue exploring the surrounding area, grab a drink, or easily find transport back to your accommodation.

Good to know:
Dress Code: As the Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel are deeply religious sites, everyone must cover their knees and shoulders. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry by security officials. No hats or flip flops please.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible due to uneven terrain. Soft baby carriers are recommended instead of strollers. If you have questions or concerns about your mobility, please contact us in advance.
Fitness: As part of this tour, you'll join your guide for a walking through the historic center of Rome. Expect roughly 3.2 km (2 miles) of walking.
Bag Policy: Large backpacks or bags may delay security checks at the Vatican and Colosseum, so please pack light.
ID Requirement: A valid government-issued ID is required for entry into the Colosseum and Vatican. The name on your tickets (entered at check-out) must match the name listed on your government-issued ID or you may be refused entry.
Tour Changes: Depending on your Colosseum entry time, the order of the Colosseum and Roman Forum visits may be reversed. The order of Vatican and Colosseum visits may also be reversed depending on ticketing.
Please Note: On Wednesdays, and during other special Vatican events, this tour does not include a view of the outside of St. Peter’s Basilica due to closures. The Sistine Chapel is a place of worship, so visitors are not allowed to speak inside the chapel. Your guide will explain what you'll see in advance.
Lines: This tour grants group access to the Vatican Museums and Colosseum. While you'll bypass the long general admissions line for independent visitors, there may still be a wait to get through security.
Children: All visitors, regardless of age, need a ticket for the Colosseum. Each child’s ticket must match their government-issued ID. Passports are recommended.
Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in at the meeting point so the group can enter sites on time.

Our tour guide, Kate, was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly knowledgeable, informative, patient, and so well organized. We learned so much throughout the day, and she made the history interesting and easy to follow. I highly recommend booking with The Tour Guy. Maria Concetta was our guide, and we were so very happy she was! She is so knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. She really helped us to understand everything that we were seeing during the 7 hours she was with us. We only had one full day in Rome, and this was the way to do it, since you experience so much in such a compressed time: All the entrance tickets were included, and it was nice having timed access to the Colosseum and the Vatican museums. We stopped as a group for lunch at a nice little restaurant near Trevi Fountain, and this was the only added expense to our day. Definitely recommend this tour!

Giada was a wonderful guide - so knowledgeable and thoughtful. She less through Rome on a terribly hot day and made sure we were all ok. It’s not easy leading 30+ people through the crowded sidewalks and tourist spots of Rome but she did it with ease. I highly recommend this tour if you have limited time in the city.
