Itinerary
Meet your trip leader in central Rome
Your tour begins in central Rome at the meeting point listed on your booking voucher. Meet your trip leader and board your comfortable, air-conditioned coach for a start south toward the Amalfi Coast.
Enjoy the scenic drive to Sorrento
Settle in onboard the coach and relax as you travel south along the Autostrada del Sole (Highway of the Sun). Watch the Roman countryside transform into rolling hills dotted with lemon orchards and charming villages.
Sample limoncello at a local producer
Stop at a traditional limoncello producer on the Amalfi Coast to taste the region's famous lemon liqueur. Learn how this sweet, citrusy spirit is made from local lemons before continuing your journey to Sorrento.
Explore Sorrento at your own pace
Step into postcard-perfect Sorrento, perched on dramatic cliffs above the Bay of Naples. Stroll through Piazza Tasso, grab lunch at a seaside café, and soak in those jaw-dropping coastal views during two hours of free time.
Journey from Sorrento to Pompeii
After your free time, board your coach for the short, scenic drive to Pompeii. As you travel along the coast, you'll see Mt. Vesuvius looming in the distance, the very volcano that buried the ancient city frozen in time that you're about to explore.
Walk ancient streets with an archaeologist
Arrive at Pompeii, skip the long general admissions lines, and step inside. Your expert archaeologist guide leads you through streets preserved under ash by the catastrophic eruption of 79 AD, revealing how Romans lived their final day.
Your tour ends with a return to central Rome
After exploring Pompeii's ancient wonders, board your coach for the scenic drive back. Arrive in central Rome at the same location where you started.

Craig was the absolute best tour host! We spent a day with a small group, laughing, and learning so much from Craig. The tour itself was enriching, and the perfect day away from bustling Rome. Gorgeous cliffsides in Sorrento where we had views of Vesuvius and walking the streets of some of the excavated Pompeii, words cannot express how amazing it was!

Our primary tour guide was Greg. He was very knowledgeable and provided excellent insight. Our guide at Pompeii was Veronica who also was very knowledgeable and passionate about the ruins. The trip started from Rome making it a 12 hour day but the time flew by; even the most hour bus ride to a from Sorrento/Pompeii. Highly recommend

My husband and I signed up for this tour on our honeymoon in August of 2026. Our tour guide Paola was incredible in her knowledge and super friendly. The bus ride is somewhat long, but we took little pitstops at a cafe and then also the Limoncello factory where we received free tastings of various products like alcohol, chocolates, and cooking oils. Then we drove to the Amalfi Coast where we got about 1 hour and 40 minutes of free time in Sorrento. Afterwards, we boarded back onto the bus and went to Pompeii. Our tour guide there was named Sasha, and he was simply amazing. My ear bud didn’t work so he made sure I was right next to him the entire time to make sure I could hear everything. He had a great friendly personality and we could tell he absolutely cared about what he taught us there. The tour at Pompeii was only about 1 hour and 50 minutes, but it was filled with information and details we would have never known. I would 100% recommend this tour to our friends and family if they ever travel.

They did a great job! Unfortunately we had some very rude people in our group who did not know what they had signed up for so they were not polite with their opinions. Maria Elena did talk a lot, and some was unnecessary, but overall she gave good information. The trip was a success despite traffic. Pompeii was amazing!

The tour was great! Mario, our first tour guy was very knowledgeable, funny and respectful, answering all our questions. Later in Pompei, Miriam our guide was great and gave me a lot of history of the place. Congratulations also for the excellent driver!! The tour bus was very comfortable and there were brief but necessary stops along the way for a quick snack and use of the restroom. Thank you for a great experience!!

This day trip from Rome was the perfect way to knock out two bucket-list spots without having to navigate Italy’s complicated regional train system on my own. Starting the morning in Sorrento with some fresh limoncello and those cliffside views of the Bay of Naples was a vibe, especially with a solid couple of hours to grab a real pizza and just wander. The transition to Pompeii was seamless, and having an actual archaeologist guide us through the ruins made the history feel much more visceral than if I’d just been reading plaques. It’s a full 12-hour day and you’ll definitely get your steps in, but for a 30-something traveler, it’s a high-value, low-stress way to see the south and still be back in Rome for a late dinner.

I joined this trip with curiosity and left with stories to tell. Pompeii felt powerful, and Sorrento brought calm seaside moments. I loved walking old streets, tasting local snacks, and sharing laughs with fellow travelers. A full day that felt meaningful.

Hidden corners of Pompeii became more meaningful when Eleonora pointed them out during our walk. Everyone stayed curious and engaged with her stories. Sorrento later gave calm benches, lemon desserts, and beautiful ocean views. The day moved smoothly without feeling rushed.

Morning excitement slowly turned into deep appreciation once we entered Pompeii. Seeing real ovens, streets, and gathering areas made history come alive. Sorrento afterward welcomed us with bright buildings, friendly shops, and calm ocean views. I loved having free time to explore at my own pace before returning to Rome.
