Itinerary
Your tour begins at Via Natale del Grande
Meet your friendly guide in Trastevere and get oriented for the morning. From here, you step straight into Rome’s most food-obsessed neighborhood, where markets, bakeries, and butcher shops drive daily life.
Taste porchetta at a classic Trastevere butcher
Start with a stop at a traditional norcineria, where you sample pizza bianca stuffed with porchetta and see what makes Roman pork so distinctive. While you taste, your guide helps pick out the fresh ingredients you’ll use later.
Walk to a local trattoria for your cooking class
Next, stroll through Trastevere’s narrow lanes toward a beloved neighborhood trattoria. Along the way, your guide shares quick context on this former working-class quarter and why Romans still come here to eat well.
Learn to make fresh pasta and ravioli by hand
Roll up your sleeves and learn the foundations of fresh pasta dough, then shape your own pasta and ravioli with a local expert. You pick up practical techniques you can actually repeat at home, from texture cues to filling and sealing.
Sit down and enjoy your pasta with wine
Once the cooking is done, sit down to eat the meal you’ve made in a relaxed, trattoria setting. Enjoy wine with your dish, with alternative beverages available for kids and non-drinkers, and get a few final tips for ordering like a local in Rome.
Cool off with Italian gelato in Trastevere
You’ll wrap up at a gelateria in Trastevere for a scoop of organic gelato, plus a quick, practical mini-lesson on what makes it the real deal. Learn what to look for in texture, color, and ingredient cues so you can spot quality gelato throughout Rome.
Your tour ends in Trastevere
After gelato, the experience officially finishes in Trastevere, leaving you perfectly placed to keep exploring the neighborhood on your own. From here it’s easy to wander the lanes toward the Tiber, or use your guide’s local tips to choose your next spot for aperitivo or dinner.

First off, thank you to Eating Europe for allowing us to add a friend to the tour/cooking class at the last minute. Overall, our guide Toni was truly amazing and truly engaged and captivated my daughters from the outset. The porchetta tasting was a delightful way to start and the pasta making class and subsequent lunch were so much fun. Loved the entire experience and would recommend for anytime in Rome!
