My wife, my daughter and I attended a tour of Pantheon skip the line express tour which ended at the church of Maria Minerva on 1/5/26. It turned out to be a rainy day and this strangely deepened our experience. Our tour guide,Manuel, was amazing in her knowledge and was a was a great teacher in that she was passionate about how the Pantheon’s history was intertwined with Rome’s. After a brief introduction and a moment where she checked her tour in, we passed through what I thought were very long lines to get into the church. The rain actually enhanced the experience because we could witness the architectural design to deal with the rain. It was fascinating to know who was entombed in the Pantheon. We felt educated on how this giant dome was constructed..Following the tour inside, she showed us often overlooked features and functional history in the rear of the giant building . Before we ended the tour our tour guide encouraged us to go inside the church of Saint Mary Minerva where we were astounded at whose tomb was under the alter.
