Your tour begins outside the Vatican walls
Meet your semi private group outside Caffé Vaticano, where your guide is waiting with a sign. After brief introductions and a quick overview of the day ahead, you’ll head straight to the Vatican Museums entrance.
Head inside the Vatican Museums with timed-entry tickets
With pre-reserved group access, bypass the long general admissions lines and walk straight into one of the world's largest art collections. Your guide leads you through the Candelabra Gallery, Tapestries, and the Gallery of Maps.
Stand beneath Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel
Before stepping inside, your guide shares fascinating insight into the frescoes so you know exactly what to look for in the silent chapel. Then you enter, gazing up at The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment in reverent awe.
Transfer to Rome's historic center
Board a private, air-conditioned vehicle reserved for your semi private group. Sit back for the short ride from the Vatican into the heart of ancient Rome.
Stroll past Piazza Navona, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain (3.2 km / 2 miles)
Step out into Rome's cobblestoned center for a guided walk through Piazza Navona, home to Bernini's fountains. Pause at the Pantheon's exterior to hear how its 2,000-year-old dome stunned ancient engineers. Then, continue to the Baroque Trevi Fountain to admire it from afar.
Break for lunch near the Trevi Fountain
After a morning of awe, take a break for a well-deserved lunch. You’ll have free time to find a local eatery near the Trevi Fountain to recharge and sample some of the city’s delicious cuisine before continuing your journey into ancient Rome.
Walk through the Roman Forum
Reunite with your guide and semi private group at the Forum entrance, then trace the marble paths where senators once debated. Hear stories of the Arch of Titus, Temple of Saturn, and the rise of the Caesars.
Enter the Colosseum's ancient tiers
Next, group access whisks you past the long general admissions queues, letting you head inside the Colosseum without delay. Follow your guide with your semi private group up to the 1st and 2nd tiers, painting scenes of gladiator combat and roaring crowds.
Your tour ends outside the Colosseum
After two tiers of gladiator history, your day concludes just outside the Colosseum's stone walls. Your guide bids farewell, leaving you free to grab a coffee, snap photos, or hop on the nearby metro to your accommodation.

Good to know:
Dress Code: As the Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel are deeply religious sites, everyone must cover their knees and shoulders. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry by security officials. No hats or flip flops please.
Accessibility: Due to the historic layout of the Vatican and Colosseum, this tour isn’t suitable for wheelchairs. If you have questions or concerns or expect to need elevator access at the Colosseum, please contact us in advance. You may also like to consider joining our Private Rome in a Day tour.
ID Requirement: A valid government-issued ID is required for entry into the Colosseum and Vatican. The name on your tickets (entered at check-out) must match the name listed on your government-issued ID or you may be refused entry.
Bag Policy: For quicker entry, please leave large backpacks and camera tripods at your accommodation as they aren’t permitted inside the Vatican Museums or Colosseum.
Lines: This tour includes group access to the Vatican Museums and Colosseum. While you'll bypass the long general admissions line for independent visitors, there may still be a wait to get through security.
Please Note: The Sistine Chapel is a place of worship, so silence is required inside. Your guide will share everything you need to know before you enter.
Fitness: This is a walking tour covering about 3.2 km (2 miles) on cobblestones and uneven ancient stone.
Tour Changes: Depending on entry times, the order of the itinerary may be adjusted. Either way, you’ll enjoy the full experience with your guide.
Children: All visitors, regardless of age, need a ticket for the Colosseum. Each child’s ticket must match their government-issued ID. Passports are recommended.
Disability certification: Visitors with valid disability certification are eligible for a reduced €2 entry ticket to the Colosseum, which also applies to one companion. Contact us after booking to arrange this. This applies to the ticket cost only, not the tour price.
Check-in: Please arrive 15 minutes early so your group can enter right on time and make the most of your visit.

Rafka was terrific, gave lots of little side stories and information of historical nature that we found very interesting., I’ll bring your walk-in shoes. You’re going to be walking a while, but you will see many many many sites not just three things.!

The tour was outstanding. Our guide was passionate and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth it, make sure you have comfortable shoes there is a lot of walking. My only regret is there is so much to see and so little time, wish we spent a few additional days in Rome. I would recommend using “ The Tour Guy” for any Rome excursions.

Enza Broccoli was an exceptional guide and teacher throughout our entire tour. At every single location we visited, she shared deep historical context, fascinating stories, and rich background details that we never would have discovered on our own. While it is technically possible to visit all of these sites independently, doing so would mean missing out on what makes them truly special. Having an expert like Enza walk you through the nuances and explain exactly what you are looking at makes the entire experience so much more meaningful. Booking this tour was worth every penny, and I walked away learning far more than I ever expected.
