Itinerary
Your tour begins at the Colosseum
Meet your guide and small group right outside the amphitheater. After a quick introduction to the area, use your pre-reserved tickets to follow your guide through a security check and into the ancient stadium.
Explore the first and second levels of the Colosseum
Walk the stone tiers where thousands of spectators once cheered for their favorite warriors. Your guide reconstructs the atmosphere of the games and explains the clever trap doors used to send animals into the arena. Before leaving, view the nearby Arch of Constantine to see how emperors celebrated their biggest victories.
Climb the Palatine Hill
Next, walk up the hill where the city of Rome first began. You will explore the ruins of massive palaces and see where the emperors lived in luxury. From this high point, look down over the entire valley for a clear view of the city’s famous skyline.
Walk through the Roman Forum
Then, descend into ancient Rome’s old downtown area, the Roman Forum, to stand among the tall columns of temples and government buildings. Follow the main stone road once used for grand parades and important speeches. Your guide points out the spot where Julius Caesar was honored and explains how this plaza was the center of daily life.
Your tour finishes at the Roman Forum
Your guided tour concludes inside the forum grounds. Your guide is happy to answer final questions and provide tips for local restaurants or other historic sites to visit for the rest of your day.

Good to know:
Dress Code: Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended, as you’ll be walking on uneven terrain.
Accessibility: Due to uneven terrain and historic surfaces, this tour isn’t suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. A soft baby carrier is recommended, and if you expect to need elevator access at the Colosseum, please let us know in advance so your guide can prepare. You may also like to consider joining our Private Colosseum Tour.
ID Requirement: A valid government-issued ID is required to enter the Colosseum. The name on your ticket must match your ID or entry may be denied.
Tour Changes: Depending on the assigned entry time for the Colosseum, your tour might enter the Roman Forum first and end in the Colosseum. It is also possible this tour might run in reverse. Either way, you’ll enjoy the full experience with your guide.
Children: All visitors, regardless of age, need a ticket for the Colosseum. Each child’s ticket must match their government-issued ID. Passports are recommended.
Disability certification: Visitors with valid disability certification are eligible for a reduced €2 entry ticket to the Colosseum, which also applies to one companion. Contact us after booking to arrange this. This applies to the ticket cost only, not the tour price.
Bag Policy: For quicker entry, please leave large backpacks and wheeled bags at your accommodation as they aren’t permitted inside the Colosseum. All bags will be screened at security.
Lines: This tour includes group access to the Colosseum, allowing you to skip the main lines for individual visitors. You’ll still pass through a security check before entering, which may involve a short wait.
Check-in: Please arrive 15 minutes early so your group can enter right on time and make the most of your visit.

Our guide Mike was fabulous. So knowledgeable, enthusiastic, friendly ,helpful. He had a clear voice and could hear well without earpiece as I can not wear one because of hearing aides. I would book any tour with him and encourage anyone reading this to make sure they ask for him.

The heat was terrible, but Alessia made the tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum worth all the sweat. I always book tours in Europe because we get experienced, educated guides who give all the details, nuances and pointers in their tours. Alessia was very knowledgeable, easy to understand, friendly and made sure we had plenty of shade opportunities to stay cool while we enjoyed the tour. HIghly recommend this tour to everyone.

Federica was a wonderful guide! She had so much knowledge to share but did a great job catering it to where we were in the site. Monika was amazing! Very knowledgeable and funny, and so glad we had her to give us a history lessons along this tour. It was hot but it she knew where the best shaded spots were for breaks and story time and made sure we were hydrated and comfortable. So much history learned in such a short time. It went by fast, and left is wanting more, but 3 hours was about all we could handle in that heat. Wear comfy shoes bc you will definitely get your steps in this day.
