Your tour begins at Civitavecchia Port

Step inside the Colosseum
With timed entry tickets in hand, you walk straight past the ticket window, through security, and into the world's most storied arena. Your private guide conjures the roar of 60,000 Romans as you stand on the same tiers that once held emperors.
Walk through the Roman Forum
The Roman Forum stretches before you like an open-air museum of power and ambition. Tune in as your guide points out where Julius Caesar was cremated and where senators once traded empires.
Visit Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona
Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, a Baroque masterpiece completed in 1762, before crossing to the theatrical oval of Piazza Navona, where Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers commands center stage.
Take a lunch break in central Rome

Enter the Sistine Chapel
Nothing prepares you for the scale of Michelangelo's ceiling fresco, which spans more than 500 square meters above you. Your guide decodes the iconography before you enter, as speaking inside the chapel is not permitted.
Visit St. Peter's Basilica
Step beneath Michelangelo's soaring dome and stand before Bernini's towering bronze Baldachin in the world's most significant church. Note that the basilica is closed on Wednesday mornings due to the Papal Audience.
Your tour ends at Civitavecchia Port
Your private driver collects you at the Vatican and sweeps you back to the port in time to rejoin your ship. The 90-minute drive is yours to unwind in, with the full weight of Rome's history behind you.

Good to know:
Dress code: As the Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel are deeply religious sites, everyone must cover their knees and shoulders. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry by security officials. No hats or flip flops please.
ID requirement: Please bring a valid government-issued ID for entrance into the Colosseum. The name on your tickets must match the name listed on your government-issued ID or you may be refused entry.
Accessibility: As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be accommodated to be wheelchair or mobility accessible. Please contact us in advance, after making the booking, to make the proper arrangements.
Tour changes: St. Peter's Basilica is closed on Wednesday mornings until 1:30 pm due to the Papal Audience. Tours during this time will not include basilica entry. Tours during special Vatican events may also experience a closure of St. Peter's Basilica.
Bag policy: Camera tripods and large backpacks are not allowed in the Vatican Museums, so please leave them at your hotel. The Colosseum allows small to medium-sized bags, but large backpacks, suitcases, and wheeled bags are prohibited. All bags are subject to security screening.
Lines: This tour grants timed entry access to the Vatican Museums and Colosseum. While you'll bypass the long general admissions line for independent visitors, there may still be a short wait to get through security.
Please note: The itinerary of this private tour can be adjusted to your needs. Please reach out if you do not see a start time that fits your party. We would be happy to check with our ticketing team to see if we can accommodate you.
Disability certification: Visitors with valid disability certification are eligible for a reduced €2 entry ticket to the Colosseum, which also applies to one companion. Contact us after booking to arrange this. This applies to the ticket cost only, not the tour price.
Check-in: Your driver will meet you directly at your cruise ship at Civitavecchia port. Please contact us in advance with your ship's arrival time so your driver can be there.

We had an amazing day exploring Rome with our guide, Manuela! She was so knowledgeable and made the history of the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, and Vatican City come to life with interesting stories and fun facts. We also stopped for authentic fresh pasta for lunch, which was absolutely delicious! Between our private driver getting us from one location to the next and Manuela leading the way, we never would have been able to see and experience so much in one day on our own. Everything was so well organized, and we never felt rushed. If you're looking for a Rome tour, I highly recommend this experience and definitely ask for Manuela. She made one of our favorite days in Italy even more memorable!

My family and I had a wonderful experience with this company from start to finish! It was such a relief to have scheduled with the right company for such a special international trip, where we were hoping we made the right decision. Our driver, Gianluca was very prompt and so polite and accommodating. He kept in communication prior to and throughout our tour, and he was so patient and helpful throughout the entire day. We never felt rushed and he was so kind. He got us to every location safely and on time, and the vehicle was very clean and comfortable. Even water bottles were thoughtfully provided for us in the back seat. He opened our doors and held umbrellas for us, and he drove safely to each location. A true professional. Our tour guide, Paola, was incredible! She was so friendly and charismatic, and extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much from her at each stop and she also made the best recommendations. As well educated as she is personable and fun, she was such a wonderful person to spend the day with. She spoke perfect English as well which was so helpful for us! We felt so blessed and fortunate to have her as our tour guide! Both Gianluca and Paola were so kind to our family and daughters and went out of their way to help us make our tour day run smoothly for us. It was raining all day which could have prevented our tour day that we were so looking forward to, but they made sure to do everything they could to make it enjoyable and make it happen for us! They timed the tour perfectly, ensuring we made it back in time to our port as well. Paola had our tickets printed and ready for us at each stop, prepared us for security protocols and any restrictions so we were never frantic or unprepared. With her as our tour guide we walked right past the long lines. Amazing! She took family photos for us, recommended a restaurant for lunch, and even allowed time for a souvenir shop. It was incredible to be able to experience so much within a few hours, and it was only possible because of Paola and Gianluca from the Tour Guy. They took the stress and confusion out of traveling for the day and allowed us to experience and make memories. If you want to enjoy your vacation, experience Rome with intention, and save yourself the stress… Book book book! They are the best!
