Step into Pompeii with a licensed archaeologist

Once you arrive, skip the long general admissions ticket lines and enter the archaeological site of Pompeii with pre-reserved tickets and a professional archaeologist guide. You will explore the forum, public baths, and private villas while learning how the city functioned before the eruption of 79 AD.

  • Dress Code: Comfortable attire and sturdy walking shoes are essential for exploring the ruins and walking on volcanic terrain. Bring layers, as temperatures can vary between Rome, Pompeii, and higher elevations.

  • Accessibility: This tour involves ancient ground and uneven terrain. It is unfortunately not wheelchair or stroller accessible. A soft baby carrier is recommended.

  • ID Requirement: Please bring a valid government-issued ID for entrance into the sites. The name on your tickets must match the name listed on your government-issued ID or you may be refused entry.

  • Bag Policy: Only small bags (30 x 30 x 15 cm max) are allowed inside the Pompeii ruins, so please leave large backpacks or luggage at your accommodation.

  • Weather Advisory: In rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, areas of Mt. Vesuvius may be closed to visitors. If this occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible.

  • Dietary Restrictions: Please contact us in advance with any special dietary restrictions or allergies, so we can do our best to accommodate you during the lunch stop.

Is this tour family friendly?

Yes. Kids can enjoy Pompeii’s streets and the volcano walk, but please keep in mind that there is lots of walking and standing. A water bottle and sturdy shoes make a big difference.

What if I have concerns about my mobility on this tour?

Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible due to uneven ancient terrain in Pompeii and volcanic terrain on Mt. Vesuvius. If you have concerns about your mobility, please contact us in advance to discuss your needs.

Is lunch included?

Yes, a multi-course lunch is included at a local restaurant on the slopes of the volcano, featuring your choice of traditional Neapolitan pizza and a dessert.

Does this tour include access to the crater?

No. This tour follows a lower-slope volcanic walk on Mt. Vesuvius and does not include access to the crater or a crater-rim climb.

How much walking is involved?

This is an active day with extensive walking on uneven surfaces in Pompeii, plus a lower-slope hike on Mt. Vesuvius. Sturdy walking shoes are essential.
