Meet your guide at the Colosseo metro stop
Your tour begins behind the green souvenir kiosk located just outside the lower level exit of the Colosseo metro station. Meet your private guide and prepare for a short walk to the monumental entrance of the world's most famous amphitheater.
Explore the 1st & 2nd Colosseum tiers
Use pre-reserved tickets to enter the Flavian Amphitheater, known as the Colosseum, a massive stone arena built in 80 A.D. for public spectacles. Follow your guide to the first and second levels to look down below at the arena floor and the underground tunnels where animals were once kept.
Navigate the Roman Forum
Next, walk into the valley of the Roman Forum, the social and political heart of the ancient city. See the Senate House and the Temple of Julius Caesar, which was built on the site of the leader's cremation in 29 B.C.
View the triumphal arches
Then, stand before the Arch of Constantine and the Arch of Titus to examine the intricate stone carvings. Learn how these massive structures celebrated military victories and influenced the architecture of monuments around the world for centuries.
Ascend the Palatine Hill
Finally, climb the historic hill where Romulus is said to have founded the city in 753 B.C. Wander through the ruins of imperial palaces and enjoy a panoramic view of the Circus Maximus and the sprawling city below.
Your tour finishes at Palatine Hill
The tour concludes on Palatine Hill. Continue exploring the archaeological park at your leisure or head toward a nearby trattoria for a traditional Roman lunch. Ask your guide for local recommendations, they will be happy to help!

Good to know:
Dress Code: Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended, as you’ll be walking on uneven terrain.
ID Requirement: A valid government-issued ID is required to enter the Colosseum. The name on your ticket must match your ID or entry may be denied.
Accessibility: As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be adapted for wheelchair or mobility needs. Please contact us after booking to arrange this. A soft baby carrier is recommended over a stroller, and if you’ll need elevator access at the Colosseum, let us know in advance so your guide can prepare.
Tour Changes: Depending on the assigned entry time for the Colosseum, your tour might enter the Roman Forum first and end in the Colosseum. It is also possible this tour might run in reverse. Either way, you’ll enjoy the full experience with your guide.
Children: All visitors, regardless of age, need a ticket for the Colosseum. Each child’s ticket must match their government-issued ID. Passports are recommended.
Disability certification: Visitors with valid disability certification are eligible for a reduced €2 entry ticket to the Colosseum, which also applies to one companion. Contact us after booking to arrange this. This applies to the ticket cost only, not the tour price.
Bag Policy: For quicker entry, please leave large backpacks and wheeled bags at your accommodation as they aren’t permitted inside the Colosseum. All bags will be screened at security.
Lines: This tour includes group access to the Colosseum, allowing you to skip the main lines for individual visitors. You’ll still pass through a security check before entering, which may involve a short wait.

We had a small group tour for 9 with lots of different t ages (11-84). This tour was great. We started earlier, had alone time at lots of viewing areas, stayed in the shade and made special stops for our elderly person. GIovanni was a wealth of knowledge. Just awesome!

We had such an outstanding experience on this tour. Our brilliant guide, Fabi, was engaging, knowledgeable and fun. She took the time to answer all our questions and although I expect she’s given this tour hundreds of times, her love of Roman history and passion for these buildings and landmarks shone through and was infectious! Our tour guide was amazing. I highly recommend paying for the private tour. It was just my family of 3 today and it was tailored to our needs. The heat was a bit challenging as we got into the tour so our guide adjusted the route to include some extra water breaks and extra stops in the shade. She knew where to go to skip the lines for water refills as well as where to take the best photos. Her knowkegte of the history of Rome shoukd qualify her as a historian in politics and archaeology .

Our tour guide, Daniel, made our tour memorable , enjoyable and fun regardless of the heat! I honestly felt sorry for all the many people that were on their own touring the Colosseum! Without our wonderful guide, we would have likely been meandering around aimlessly trying to see everything while melting in the 103 degree heat looking for shade amongst the droves of tourists! Daniel gave us so much useful and interesting historical information (while we were able to use any shady spots along the way) that the time went by very quickly. He knew exactly where to capture great vantage points while explaining all the many facts about the area, that none of our four family members had yet heard, about the rich history of this highly impactful center of world history. We will always remember this great tour our family of four had today (including our 11 and 15 year old girls) . Our daughters were in complete agreement. This was the best tour we’ve ever had and we go on many tours when we travel! Thanks again Daniel!
