Your tour begins near the entrance to the Catacombs
Meet your group and expert guide near the entrance to the Paris Catacombs and prepare to step into Paris's most extraordinary underground world.
Enter the Paris Catacombs with pre-reserved tickets
Down you go, 130 steps below Paris' busy streets. The temperature drops and the light fades as you enter a maze of tunnels that started as limestone mines back in the 1200s. Your guide explains how these forgotten quarries became burial chambers when the city's graveyards ran out of room.
Walk through the bone-lined corridors
Walls of skulls and femurs stretch in every direction, stacked floor to ceiling. Artists arranged the bones into crosses, hearts, and archways—their way of making death a little less grim. You'll learn that 6 million Parisians rest here, and their remains actually help hold up the tunnels above your head.
Stand before the Barrel of Passion
In the Crypt of Passion, a tower of skulls built to resemble Obelix marks the most iconic spot underground. In 1897, 45 musicians performed Chopin's Funeral March to over 100 guests at an illegal midnight concert right here.
Entering the two restricted chambers
A guard unlocks iron gates that most visitors never see. Behind them lie hidden rooms closed to the public, where the silence feels heavier and the bones tell different stories. Your small group gets exclusive access that makes this tour truly one of a kind.
Your tour finishes inside the Catacombs
After 90 minutes with your guide, the tour wraps up deep underground. You're free to linger and explore the passageways on your own, soaking in the atmosphere and discovering details at your own pace before you exit back into the sunlight.

We had Andre as our tour guide and he was just fabulous! Made lots of funny quips and stories, told some spooky stories, mentioned lots of history, and answered all our questions! The restricted parts were lots of fun with extra history and stuff to see. Definitely worth it!

The tour of the Catacombs was one of the top ten best experiences of our trip! Some things you can read about, some things you can just see pictures, but the Catacombs must be done on foot, in person. Our guide was great, the amount of detail and stories was one in a lifetime. Do the tour!

This was an unexpected tour for us to jump on but it was one of my FAVORITES. Saeed, our tour guide, was amazingly knowledgeable, told incredible stories, and really brought the catacombs to life. (Wink*wink) The wonderful balance of important and interesting facts as well as humor really helped me to enjoy this tour as I am not the most comfortable with death nor underground spaces. I would HIGHLY recommend taking this tour and learning more about what’s underneath Paris!
