Meet your guide at Barcelona North Bus Station
Your day begins near Barcelona North Bus Station, where you meet your guide and small group. Check in, get a quick outline of the schedule, and board the air-conditioned bus.
Travel to Montserrat and ride the cogwheel train
Leave Barcelona and drive through the Catalonian countryside toward the rocky peaks of Montserrat. At the base of the mountain, switch to the cogwheel train, which climbs steeply to the monastery with wide views over the valley.
Visit the Montserrat Monastery and basilica
At the top, your guide leads you through the monastery complex and basilica. Learn how this 11th-century site became a symbol of Catalan faith and hear the story of the Black Madonna statue that draws pilgrims here.
Enjoy free time at Montserrat
After the guided visit, enjoy free time to explore on your own. Walk to a nearby lookout for wide views over the cliffs and valley, or stay near the plaza to visit the small market and try local cheeses and other products.
Taste tapas and wine at an organic winery
Leave the mountain and drive to a nearby organic winery surrounded by vineyards. Walk between the vines and through the cellar as you learn how the wines are made, then sit down for a light tapas-style lunch paired with three regional wines from the estate.

Carlos was excellent. The best excursion guide we have ever had. Very personable and great communication skills. Gave a great presentation of the wines! It wasn't the usual color, legs, oaky taste, etc. Excellent.

We loved this trip to see the beauty of Montserrat in the mountains and to go inside the basilica there! Our tour guide Delph was super friendly and shared so much with us about the history of Montserrat. We enjoyed having cheese and other treats from the local market and loved exploring the winery and the wine tasting! We would definitely recommend this trip!!!

We started our trip in Madrid and had a few mediocre tours there so we weren’t sure what to expect. Within seconds of meeting our tour guide Vince in Barcelona, we know we were in for a great time! Incredibly knowledgeable and hysterical at the same time, he did it all. Montserrat was awesome and one of the few places we’d want to return to. The tour company did a good job lining up the busses, train to Montserrat and the winery so that everything flowed. Vince ended the tour by sharing a great list of local restaurants to try. Definitely recommend this one.

Our Monserrat plus Wine and Tapas was a wonderful day trip from Barcelona with a great blend of cultural info, humour, activity, food and wine. But the thing that brought it all together was our exceptional tour guide Tuais who led a perfectly paced tour with just the right amount of expert information mixed with good humour. Listening to the Escolania de Montserrat was like waking up in the afterlife. We did and it was so serene with the monastery set against the beautiful mountain backgrounds. It made a fantastic end to this really yummy day of tapas.

Between St Lucia and Montserrat there was plenty of beautiful scenery along the way. The views from the monastery of the mountain are incredible. The warm plate of tapas at the end was a delicious touch.
