Venue was easy to find and communication clear. Johannes was an experienced chef who engaged easily and took us on a culinary journey. A detailed explanation and tour of the markets was provided as he shopped for ingredients. The kitchen was clean, comfortable and well set up. Johannes explained how to prepare ingredients and why. Each person was designated a role in preparing the four courses we would eat. Wine and water were both available throughout. Conversation was great and he answered many questions about life in Spain. The end result was delicious. Catered for a seafood allergy with an alternative, which was much appreciated. Johannes is a credit to Barcelona Cooking.

Absolutely fabulous!
We started the day visiting the local market, La Boqueria, with Sonia, the instructor, to get the ingredients that we would need to create the day's menu. Sonia guided us through the market where we stopped at several stalls to sample what they were selling — olives, Serrano and Iberico ham, and Catalan candy.
Sonia is a trained chef, and she quickly showed us what we needed to do to make a strawberry mint gazpacho, an onion and potato torta, seafood paella, and a Catalan cream dessert. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. There were only four people in the class, and Sonia made sure that each of us took part in creating the four dishes. We enjoyed Spanish wines while we cooked and when we ate. I highly recommend this experience.

My family and I enjoyed every bit of this experience. The tour of the market was amazing, the food was spectacular, and our teacher/chef was knowledgeable and personable and just a joy. Can't recommend this enough.
Great experience
We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class. Sonya was our instructor. She explained everything clearly and made sure we all had a part in the meal prep. It was definitely a hands-on experience.

The cooking class was definitely the capstone to my time in Barcelona. Dishes like gazpacho and paella seemed difficult, but our instructor showed us that they were simple enough to make at home. I loved starting the time at the local market, where we not only collected ingredients but learned how special and local each one was. I also appreciated that we learned Catalan-specific recipes, especially the tomato bread which is so easy to make but one of my favorites that I’m especially excited to make that at home. Of course, our sweet guide, varied class members (from 13 to 80+ years old!), and free flowing wine all added to the experience. I’d highly recommend it!
Spanish classic dishes
I would do this class again in a heartbeat. Renate was wonderful and so welcoming. She explained all and made it seem so easy. Not only did we learn to make some classic Spanish dishes but then you get to enjoy eating them. They were delicious. There’s a great little cookbook I’d recommend also. Plus you get to visit the fabulous market and shop for your supplies. There are also several families with children in the class. Great experience for them too! Thank you Renate for a terrific experience!

It was such a great experience learning about the market and shopping for ingredients. The atmosphere of the kitchen is wonderful as is chef Juan. A must do in Barcelona!
Highlight of our Trip
I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of our trip! We so much enjoyed the trip to the market, the education we received about how the market came to be and the strategic location of all of the food booths and the Chef himself. Our Chef was the best! He was friendly, informative and had a great personality. We would do this again in a heartbeat!
Favorite Experience!
This was hands down the best thing we did on our Barcelona trip! We loved every second of it, people were so friendly, food was amazing and bonus - all you can drink red and white wine! Highly highly recommend!!!
