Climb the St. Peter's Basilica Dome

Good to know:
Dress Code: As the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica, are deeply religious sites, everyone must cover their knees and shoulders. Guests who do not meet the dress code may be refused entry by security officials. No hats or flip flops please.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible. This tour is not recommended for those with claustrophobia or limited mobility, as the final ascent to the dome top involves a narrow, ancient stairway of about 320 steps. A foldable umbrella stroller can be utilized in the Vatican Museums, but cannot be used in St. Peter's Basilica. A soft baby carrier is recommended.
Elevator Access: The final portion of the dome climb (320 steps) must be done by stairs, even with elevator access to the first level.
Tour Changes: The Basilica is closed on Wednesday mornings due to the Papal Audience. During state visits or special religious events, parts of the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica may be closed unexpectedly and without much notice, in which case we will reach out to assist you in rescheduling.
Lines: This tour grants you group access to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica. While you'll bypass the long line for independent visitors, there may still be a wait to get through security.
Please Note: The Sistine Chapel is a place of worship, so visitors are not allowed to speak inside the chapel. Your guide will explain what you'll see in advance.
Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in at the meeting point so the group can enter sites on time.

It was very easy to find our tour guide and start the dome climb which was absolutely with it - our guide was amazing and she was very knowledgeable - the only bummer part about the tour was that the Vatican museum was so crowded - it felt like we were being herded like cattle through the exhibits - not the tour company's fault - the Sistine Chapel is a great way to end the tour - I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Rome

Our tour guide Loretta was great. My wife takes too many pictures so is always lagging behind. Loretta would always make sure all in the group were caught up before moving on. The tour itself was fantastic. Never been to the top of the dome. Epic views. The walk up the stairs wasn't so bad. Just wish we had more time in the Basilica. Once around is not enough to take all of it in. My advise - don't wait for the elevator to go back down. Take the stairs. That will give you more time to look at the Basilica. The tour guide should mention that. I didn't need to wait for the elevator.

We enjoyed this tour very much, although it was a lot for one outing. It was a bit hard to understand our guide at times due to her soft voice and her accent. We would have preferred to skip the vatican museums, but it's the only way to get to the Sistine Chapel. The Chapel was ridiculously crowded, but we were not rushed to get in and out. The Duomo climb was definitely worth it!

Simona was excellent, very knowledgeable with lots of good information and repetition. She left us plenty of time for the dome climb and made navigation through Vatican City seamless and efficient. She even attempted to point out highlights during the brisk walk to the Sistine Chapel. Would highly recommend.
