Unprofessional and Disrespectful Tour Company

I understood upon booking, that I might not be able to go into the theater if there was a performance or rehearsal. So I booked at 9:30 am tour. On the day of my tour there was an "event" starting in the morning. We were not allowed to go into the theater at all. We were not offered at time to return after the tour to see the theater. When pressed, the guide told us we could try to return at the end of the day. When we returned at 5:30, the theater was closing the doors and would not let us even peak inside. They said we could return the next morning, Sunday. We were leaving Milan at 7:30 am that morning and would not be able to return. We paid for a tour but never saw the theater. only the museum. How does a booking company not even check to see if there is an event scheduled? I imagine events are scheduled in advance. Why have a tour at a time when you know FOR A FACT that the tour will not be able to enter the theater? What a rip off. Very unprofessional and an obvious way to take advantage of tourists.

What a fabulous decision it was to book this tour. I’ve been to 2 operas in the past and am not a huge opera person, but wanted to have a richer understanding of Milan, so I booked the tour. So happy I did! The tour guide was wonderful- really engaging and passionate about opera and its Milanese history and I learned so much that I wanted to get tickets to Norma the next night! So much interesting info to learn and appreciate about the building, opera itself and the social role going to the portal played since its creation.
This tour was an unexpected highlight of my week in Milan!

June 2025: ahhhmazing tour guide, Maria Elena! She was a wealth of information, but her passion for art and art history was infectious. I expected to see the opera house and its glory, but Maria Elena far exceeded expectations. She was a joy, perfect English, and provided extra details that made this experience a complete pleasure. You don’t have to like or love opera or theater to appreciate this tour. If you like history and architecture, this experience provides that too. Totally worth it and hopefully, you’ll have Maria Elena as your guide!

Our gentleman guide (Feldicio???) was very knowledgeable on the political history as it related to the opera house, as well as the history of the building. I especially appreciated his fluent English. We did not feel rushed in any way. The theater lived up to the hype. The only thing I would have done differently was to also try to see a performance. Highly recommend!

Our Guide was excellent. He took time to thoroughly explain the history of La Scale and the background of many of the key artifacts in the La Scala Museum. He was very knowledgeable and he utilized his knowledge to ensure that we saw as much as possible within the 1-hour timeframe. Because of this experience, I would not hesitate to book future tours with the TOUR Guy.

Nina was very knowledgeable and we appreciated her guidance. Unfortunately - no reflection on her at all - we were fatigued from jet lag and an active morning activity and the lack of air conditioning in the theater wiped us out early. Also - not your fault - terribly disappointed no gift open during the off-season. La Scala is losing an enormous monetary opportunity.

We did a lot of tours in our 2 weeks in Italy and this one was my favorite. It was probably the one I had the lowest of expectations for but I am SO happy we did it. Fantastic guide and La Scala is so opulent that the picutres don't do it justice. You must see in person.
