Your tour begins in central Milan

Meet your English-speaking tour leader at Piazza della Repubblica in front of the Fidenza Village kiosk in Milan. Climb aboard a comfortable coach and let the scenic drive toward the Swiss border begin.

Wind through Valtellina region countryside

Roll north through the green Valtellina valley, where vineyards climb the hillsides and stone hamlets cling to ancient terraces. A short rest stop lets you grab a coffee before you make the cross into Switzerland.

Glimpse glamorous St. Moritz

Cresting into Switzerland, the coach passes the chic resort town of St. Moritz, set on a glassy lake at 5,900 feet (1,800 meters). Drink in views of snow-dusted peaks and grand Belle Époque hotels through the window.

Soar to the Diavolezza summit

Then a short transfer drops you at the cable car base, where you'll rocket to 9,770 feet (2,978 meters) in just 12 minutes. Glaciers and granite spires sweep into view as you rise above the alpine tree line.

Feast on typical pizzoccheri dish at 10,000 feet

Inside Berghaus Diavolezza, the a high-altitude mountain inn, sink into a long Valtellina lunch of pizzoccheri, the region's beloved buckwheat pasta layered with melted cheese, potatoes, cabbage, and sage butter. Glacier views fills every window.

Glide aboard the Bernina Red Train

Drop back down by cable car, then step onto the UNESCO-listed Bernina Red Train. For two hours, panoramic carriages float across long bridges stoned arched bridges high in the sky, 360-degree spirals, and pine-fringed alpine valleys.

Linger in border-town Tirano

The train rolls into Tirano, a small Italian town where the Bernina line ends and the Alps melt into the Lombardy plain. Stretch your legs, capture the famous spiral viaduct, the bridge known for it’s curve, and rejoin the coach for home.

Your tour ends in central Milan

Sink into your seat for the relaxing two-and-a-half-hour ride back toward Milan, with photos and stories to share. You'll arrive at Piazza della Repubblica by early evening, ready for dinner.
