Itinerary
Meet your tour leader near the Acropolis metro
Your tour begins at Athanasiou Diakou Street, a short walk from the Acropolis metro station in central Athens. Your guide fits you with a comfortable bike and helmet, explains the route, and answers any questions before you set off.
Cycle past Plaka and the Acropolis
Pedal toward Plaka, Athens' oldest neighborhood, where narrow lanes wind beneath the towering Acropolis. You'll ride past the Roman Agora, a marketplace built in the first century BC, while the Parthenon rises against the sky above you.
Discover Kerameikos and ancient Athens
Next, you'll glide through Thission and pause at Kerameikos, the ancient cemetery where prominent Athenians were laid to rest 2,500 years ago. Stone monuments still stand among olive trees, marking the edge of what was once classical Athens.
Follow the bike path through local neighborhoods
From here, hop onto a dedicated bike lane that leads through Petralona, Kallithea, and Moschato. These residential areas buzz with cafes, bakeries, and local shops, offering a glimpse of how Athenians actually live beyond the tourist zones.
Admire the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center
After about 45 minutes of flat riding, you'll reach the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. This glass-and-marble complex houses the National Library and National Opera House, and its rooftop park overlooks the sea.
