Overwhelming tour of the Vatican

Our tour guide Anna was full of knowledge & insights. Unfortunately her strong Italian accent made it a bit difficult to understand her at times. Pur private group of 6 spent about 3 hours at the Vatican museums which was overwhelming & extremely crowded even though we had an 8:30 am tour. They say it may have been due to this being a Vatican Jubilee year. Then the allotted 15 minutes for the Sistine Chapel followed by St Peter's Basilica. We waited about 15 minutes to enter the Holy Door with no entrance in sight before deciding to call it a day. All of this was not Anna's fault. We are glad we did the Vatican tour, but once is enough.

Great Guide

Very informative guide (and easy to understand) and the communication and organisation of the tour guy is exceptional. Very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend an individual tour for your group/ family - worked out very well for us. I'd research and ensure any transport (ie taxi) to the ticket/guide pick up point (cafe in our case) drops you exactly as required as crossing the Vatican from one side to the other and to the cafe is not quick or easy!

Love, love this tour with private tour guide Lia! I have been waiting to visit the Vatican for many years and Lia made the visit so special. Amazing Tour

We had the most wonderful tour guide named, Leah (Lia?). She was so knowledgeable and fun and really engaged our 12 & 14 year old kids. She really understood how to maneuver around the museums and where the best spaces were for pictures etc. If you don't have a lot of time, but want to maximize your experience- spend a little more for a private tour- its worth it!
