Meet your guide in central Budapest

Your full-day journey begins with a departure from the EUrama office. Board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus with your guide to begin the drive toward the Danube Bend.

Cross the Mária Valéria Bridge

Cross the Mária Valéria Bridge, a significant iron structure spanning the Danube that links Hungary and Slovakia. Pause on the Slovak side of the river for a 15-minute photo stop to see Esztergom and the river valley.

Esztergom and the Basilica

Next, drive to Esztergom, a city known as the historic seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. Receive a guided tour of the city, visiting the colossal Esztergom Basilica, the largest neoclassical church in the country.

Visegrád Hill and lunch

The journey continues to Visegrád, the site of the former Royal Residence. Stop for a delicious 3-course Hungarian lunch near the scenic hill before enjoying free time to capture the remarkable panoramic views of the curving Danube Valley.

Return to Budapest by boat or bus

Your return to the capital is either by public river boat, which runs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the long summer season, or by air-conditioned bus on Wednesdays and other days in winter. The boat ride offers a scenic, hour-long transfer back to the city.

Your tour finishes at the Vigadó tér pier

  • Duration: The tour is approximately 9 hours. The actual time may vary depending on traffic conditions.

  • Guide Note: The tour may be operated by a bilingual guide, delivering commentary in two of the offered languages simultaneously.

  • Seasonal Tour Changes: Return to Budapest is by public boat between May 17, 2025, and September 10, 2025 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In case of low water levels or during the winter, the return will be by air-conditioned bus.

  • Accessibility: This tour is not suitable for guests with mobility restrictions, it is not wheelchair or standard stroller accessible.

  • Dress Code: As Esztergom Basilica is a consecrated place, visitors should dress modestly. Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women to show respect for the sacred space. Sleeveless tops and shorts or skirts that do not cover the knee are discouraged.

  • ID Requirement: Please bring a valid government-issued ID as it may be requested as you cross country borders.
