Itinerary

Your tour begins at your preferred pickup location

Your guide picks you up at your hotel entrance in Budapest, then you ride in an air-conditioned van. During the first miles out of town, you review the day’s hike, kayak plan, and safety basics.

Drive to Nagymaros in the Danube Bend

Settle in for about an hour on the road to Nagymaros, a riverside town tucked into the Danube Bend. Your guide points out the river’s curves and the hills you’ll soon be hiking.

Visit Nagymaros before you hike

Stretch your legs in Nagymaros and take in the small-town riverfront scene before the climb begins. It is a calm reset point to grab a quick photo and get ready for the uphill section.

Hike up to Julianus Lookout Tower

Follow forest trails into the beech woods and tackle a steep first stretch that rewards steady pacing. At Julianus Lookout Tower, pause for panoramic views that frame the Danube like a ribbon.

Trek through the beech forest to the river

Continue on shaded paths as your guide helps you spot animal traces and explains the tree species around you. The trail gradually drops toward the riverside, setting up a smooth transition to paddling.

Kayak past Visegrád Castle views

After a short briefing on technique and river rules, launch your kayak and move with the gentle current. As the bend opens up, you glide with mountain views and spot Visegrád Castle above the waterline.

Your tour ends at your Budapest hotel

Wrap up the paddle, help pack the gear, then ride back to Budapest by van. You arrive at your hotel with fresh air in your lungs and a full day of the Danube Bend in your memory.
