Your tour begins at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter

Meet your guide at the Skärgårdens Kanotcenter just outside Stockholm. You will receive a safety briefing and instruction on proper paddle technique. Then suit up in a premium drysuit, neoprene boots, and gloves, to ensure you stay warm and dry throughout the tour.

Kayaking the winter Archipelago

Glide into the calm, icy waters of the Stockholm Archipelago. Your guide selects the route based on the day’s weather conditions, ensuring a comfortable pace for the group. Take in the beauty of the snow-covered islands under the soft winter light.

Traditional Swedish fika break

Take a well-deserved break on a peaceful island or back at the cozy kayak center (depending on the weather) to enjoy a traditional Swedish fika (coffee break). Enjoy a warm drink and sweet treat to relax, warm up your core, and recharge your energy.

Your tour ends with a wood-fired sauna by the sea

The tour concludes back at the center with access to a traditional wood-burning sauna by the sea for a truly Swedish finish. Towels are provided for your convenience. Between sessions in the heat, you can take a refreshing dip in the cold water, embracing the local custom. This relaxing experience is the perfect way to feel warm, recharged, and celebrate your winter adventure.

Meeting and drop-off point

You will meet your guide at the Skärgårdens Kanotcenter (Resarövägen 10). The center is accessible from central Stockholm by taking the T14 subway line to Danderyds sjukhus, then bus 670 to Engarn. The tour concludes back at the kayak center.

Good to know:

  • Accessibility: This tour involves paddling and water-based activity. It is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. This activity is not suitable for pregnant women or individuals with pre-existing medical conditions, including back problems.

  • Age & Weight Requirement: Participants must be sixteen years or older to join the tour. All Participants must be over 4 ft 9 in (150 cm) and under over 254 lbs (115 kg).

  • Weather Advisory: This tour runs in all weather conditions, including snow and frost. Exceptions are made only for storms or strong winds that make paddling unsafe, in which case rescheduling or a full refund will be offered.

  • Dress Code: You will be provided with a drysuit, but please wear warm thermal layers underneath (synthetic or wool is best) and a hat to stay comfortable. Avoid cotton. Please remember to bring a bathing suit if you plan to use the sauna.

  • Dietary Restrictions: We can easily accommodate common dietary needs like gluten-free and lactose-free options for the fika. Please contact us in advance.

  • Please Note: This tour does not include hotel pickup or drop-off. Guests must use public transit or a taxi/ride-share service; travel time from central Stockholm is approximately 50 minutes to one hour.

  • Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in at the meeting point so the group can depart on time.
