Itinerary
Meet your guide at the Kayak Center
Meet your guide at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter on Resarö, located just outside the town of Vaxholm. You will receive a welcome briefing covering the day's route and conditions.
Paddling practice
Receive a paddling introduction on land, focusing on proper techniques. Then practice maneuvering near the shore before heading into the archipelago with your guide. While novice-friendly, a little prior kayaking experience is recommended for this adventure.
Kayaking the Archipelago
Head out into the vast Stockholm Archipelago, paddling through sheltered bays, scenic narrow passages, and open water stretches. You will cover approximately 10-15 km (6-9 miles), while passing traditional waterfront cottages and the historic Vaxholm Fortress.
Wildlife spotting and fika break
Continue the journey, searching for Baltic Sea wildlife, including seals, oystercatchers, and white-tailed eagles or ospreys. Then take a short, fika break—a traditional Swedish moment for coffee and a sweet snack—on the water or a nearby island.
Island lunch
Pull up to a remote island for an extended stop, where your guide will prepare a satisfying BBQ-style lunch for the group. Use this longer break to explore the island on foot, take a swim in the sea, or relax and take in the nature around you.
Your tour ends at the Kayak Center
After lunch, paddle back toward the kayak center, typically following a different route to maximize your views of the surrounding scenery and increase your chances of spotting wildlife. Your tour finishes back at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter.
