The Whale Watching Excursion
Your adventure begins at the Old Harbour in Reykjavik, where you'll board a specially designed whale watching boat. For 3 to 3.5 hours, you'll sail out into Faxaflói Bay, one of the best whale-watching areas near the city. The bay is a rich feeding ground for many species, including massive Humpback Whales, smaller Minke Whales, and playful pods of White-Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises.
Professional guides will provide expert commentary and point out wildlife sightings, sharing their knowledge of the whales and the marine ecosystem. To ensure you stay comfortable during the trip, warm overalls are provided free of charge.
Please be aware that due to environmental reasons during certain times of the year our trips may be delivered on a shared boat with one of our partners. We are committed to ensuring the environment is kept pristine by making sure fewer boats are on the water.
It is important to keep in mind that Whale Watching is a natural activity governed by the laws of the weather. If the trip is cancelled due to bad weather, the Whale Watching ticket will be refunded if you are unavailable to reschedule. In case of cancellation, the price of the Whales of Iceland Exhibition ticket will not be refunded. The museum ticket is open, so you can freely choose your entry time. You do not have to attend the museum on the same day of your scheduled whale watching tour.
The Whales of Iceland Exhibition
Complement your experience with a visit to the Whales of Iceland Exhibition, located conveniently near the harbor. This is Europe's largest whale museum, featuring life-sized models of over 23 species found in Icelandic waters.
Walk alongside the enormous 25-meter Blue Whale model and learn about the diverse species through interactive exhibits and audio guides. This self-guided experience allows you to deepen your knowledge of the sea giants you saw (or hope to see!) during your boat tour, bringing their scale and significance to life.
A daily live-guided tour is also available for free for all ticket holders at 11:00am and 3:00pm.
By combining the thrill of the open ocean with the educational depth of the exhibition, you get the absolute best, most respectful way to explore the sea's giants in Reykjavik.
