Itinerary
Walk through downtown Reykjavík’s landmark core
Follow your guide past Hallgrímskirkja, massive, basalt-inspired, 244-foot Lutheran church, Harpa Concert Hall, Parliament, and Tjörnin pond. Along the way, hear Icelandic history, local folklore, and practical tips on where to eat and drink nearby.
Spot an Elf home and other local details
Next, your guide points out the small things most visitors miss, including a tucked-away Elf home and neighborhood stories. The pace stays relaxed, so you can take photos and ask questions as you go.
Take a lunch break near the harbor
Then you break for lunch and free time, with plenty of options around the center and waterfront. Refuel, browse shops, or stroll toward the Old Harbour so you are ready for the boat portion.
Board a 2:00 pm puffin-watching boat from the Old Harbour
At 2:00 pm, step aboard for a guided boat tour with binoculars provided. The ride out takes about 15 minutes, giving you wide views of Reykjavík’s skyline before you reach the puffin habitat.
Cruise near Akurey Island to watch puffins in the wild
Once near Akurey Island, the boat slows so you can quietly observe puffins and other seabirds on the rocky shores. Your guide shares what to look for and explains the birdlife as you scan the water and cliffs.
Your tour ends at Reykjavík’s Old Harbour
After the cruise, return to the harbor with your camera full and a better sense of the city’s layout. From here, it is easy to keep exploring the waterfront or grab a late snack nearby.
