Itinerary
Your tour begins at Ægisgarður 5b (Reykjavík Old Harbor)
Meet your guide at the harbor sales office, then walk down to the boat. The salty air tickles your nose as your guide points out where whales like to “hang out” in Faxaflói Bay.
Glide out of the harbor and into the big blue bay
The boat whooshes forward and Reykjavík starts to shrink in the distance. Watch the water sparkle and listen as your guide explains how whales follow food through these cold Iceland seas.
Play “spot the splash” for minke and humpback whales
Now the real game starts: eyes wide, scanning for tall sprays, shiny backs, and a giant tail waving goodbye. When a whale pops up, lean in close, learning what the whale is doing and why it chose this part of the bay.
Chase quick shadows of porpoises and white-beaked dolphins
Next, look for smaller, speedy friends that zoom and zigzag near the surface. Your guide tells you what to notice, like how dolphins move in groups and how porpoises can appear from tiny, sneaky splashes.
Snuggle into the heated indoor area, then dash back outside
If the wind feels chilly, duck inside to warm up, then hop back out when someone calls, “There.” Grip the rail, watch the sea roll, and try to catch the perfect photo before the animals slip away again.
Your tour ends at Reykjavík Old Harbor
As the boat glides back, replay your favorite moments in your head. Step off where you started, still looking at the water as it might surprise you with a sighting one final time.
