Santorini’s caldera is the scar of a colossal volcanic collapse, and the sea still traces its rim like a map of fire. Seeing that scale from the water and setting foot on the volcano itself is a must. On this tour, you’ll cruise from Athinios Port, hike Nea Kameni’s crater trail, and then swim in Palea Kameni’s hot springs. Afterwards, dock on Thirassia to slow down and take in the quieter side of the caldera. Reserve now and claim the caldera day most visitors never quite pull off.

Itinerary

Your tour begins at your hotel

Start your morning with a pickup near your accommodation, then ride to Athinios Port. On the way, your guide shares what’s ahead, from volcanic trails to the caldera swim stop, so you arrive ready.

Board your boat at Athinios Port

Step aboard in the harbor and find your spot on deck. As the boat pulls into the caldera, you feel the wind off the water while onboard audio commentary and your live guide explain the cliffs and lava islets.

Walk up Nea Kameni’s volcanic path

Soon you land on Nea Kameni and follow your guide up the ascending trail toward the crater. The ground shifts from black rock to ash-like grit, and the views widen across Santorini’s rim with every switchback.

Swim in Palea Kameni’s hot springs

Next you anchor near Palea Kameni and jump into green, sulfur-rich thermal water. Float with the provided foam pool noodles, then climb back aboard to warm up in the sun as the boat resets for the next stop.

Wander Thirassia’s port and lanes

Then you dock at Thirassia for free time by the small harbor. Grab lunch, explore the quiet waterfront, or choose the climb to Manolas by stairs, with an optional donkey ride available at your own expense.

Your tour ends at Athinios Port

Finally, you cruise back into Athinios Port and meet your transfer for the ride back. By the time you return, you’ve traced Santorini’s volcanic story firsthand, from crater rock to hot spring water.
