Welcome to Santorini’s Marina of Vlychada!
Your seamless day out at sea begins right from your Santorini accommodation, where you’ll be picked up at a pre-designated time prior to 10:30 am and transferred to the Marina of Vlychada. Nestled among dramatic cliffs sculpted by wind and sea, it’s easy to see why this marina is known for its natural beauty and strategic location, and it's here you’ll meet your expert guide, friendly crew, and fellow adventurers for the day. Hop aboard the luxury catamaran and settle in for your remarkable journey ahead.
Red Beach, White Beach, and Mesa Pigadia
Throughout the five-hour sailing experience, you'll pause to swim, snorkel, and admire unique volcanic landscapes, and your first stop is the stunning Red Beach in Akrotiri. Here, volcanic rocks and debris have tumbled off the cliff to create a dramatic deep-red colored beach and it is the perfect place to capture photos of Santorini's famed contrasts. Next, continue to the secluded White Beach, reachable only by boat, and ponder how its white pebbles backed by towering white cliffs offer such a stark but equally stunning contrast to your first stop.
After admiring the two beaches, you’ll no doubt be eager to dive into the refreshing Aegean Sea waters, and your chance is just around the corner at Mesa Pigadia. Don your swimsuit, grab your snorkel gear, and dive into the clear waters brimming with unique volcanic formations and marine life. Keep your eye out for sea urchins, sea turtles, starfish, and tropical fish!
Indian Rock, Light House, Caldera Coast
Sailing onwards, you'll next come across the spectacular Indian Rock. This formation majestically resembles the profile of an Indian's face yet was carved by natural and relentless forces of wind and water. Nearby, the historic Venetian Light House of Akrotiri stands proudly on the island's southwestern tip, and beyond being incredibly photogenic, it has also had the very important job of guiding sailors through the Aegean for centuries.
Next, make your way along Santorini’s awe-inspiring Caldera Coast, which was formed around 1600 BCE during one of the largest volcanic events on Earth in recorded history. Today, it’s been given a new life, with whitewashed houses and blue-topped domes cascading down steep cliffs. This is the postcard view of Santorini that beckons travelers from near and far.
Hot Springs, Volcanic Private Bays, and Back to the Port
You've seen convincing evidence of Santorini's volcanic past, but now it's time to experience it in an entirely new way—through a soak in natural hot springs. Your expert guides will lead the way to a natural spa, where you're invited to relax in thermal waters mixed with volcanic mud. Feeling rejuvenated, and perhaps ready to cool and clean off, you'll continue to a secluded bay for another swim. As your captain anchors and the chef prepares a sumptuous meal, you'll have time to swim, snorkel, and laze on the catamaran's spacious deck.
Then, when lunch is ready, tuck into a delightful meal featuring chicken, pasta, Greek salad, tzatziki dips, and bread. Paired with soft beverages and white wine, this is one of those moments you wish could never end. However, as the afternoon wanes, it'll be time to sail back to Vlychada Marina. You can expect to return around 3:30 pm, feeling sun-kissed and rejuvenated from your day at sea. At port you'll find a comfortable mini-van waiting for you to bring you back to your hotel.
