Itinerary
Meet your guide at Rua Mouzinho da Silveira 352
Gather at the Gray Line Terminal to begin your exploration of the Porto. Your guide will share stories of the merchant history of this coastal hub before you set off on foot toward the grandest boulevards.
Avenida dos Aliados
Stroll through Avenida dos Aliados, the center of Porto. Spot the 18th-century Clérigos Tower, a Baroque masterpiece that remains the most recognizable silhouette in the skyline, then see what’s considered to be the “most beautiful” McDonalds in the world.
São Bento Train Station
Step inside this function train station to examine 20,000 hand-painted tiles covering the entry walls. These intricate blue and white painted tiles tell the story of pivotal battles and the history of Portuguese transport, plus they're totally stunning.
Sé Cathedral and Fernandina Wall
Next, climb up to one of the oldest monuments in the city to view the fortress-like exterior of the 12th-century Sé Cathedral. You will walk along portions of the medieval Fernandina Wall, which offers panoramic views over the city's orange-tiled roofs and the Douro River.
Port wine cellar visit
Board a comfortable bus for a short ride to Vila Nova de Gaia on the southern bank of the river. Step inside a historic cellar to learn about the fortification process and aging requirements before tasting three distinct varieties of regional port wine.
