Cinque Terre Hiking Tour from La Spezia Train Station

You'll meet your local guide at La Spezia's train station to begin your Cinque Terre hiking adventure, beginning with a scenic train journey to Manarola—the first of the four charming villages you'll explore today along with Corniglia, Vernazza, and Riomaggiore. You guide will lead you along trails, cliffs, and on local trains between each village, and you'll have some free time to explore each one and buy yourself a tasty local lunch in Corniglia.

After you've visited all four of the villages on your exploration of Cinque Terre, your trip leader will escort you back to La Spezia by train in the afternoon.

You don't need to be a superhero to do this hike, but a reasonable level of fitness will help. Kids aged 8 and over are welcome to join.

Start Your Journey at La Spezia Station

Your amazing hiking experience begins at La Spezia train station, where your expert guide will give you the train pass which will allow you to freely travel on the special Cinque Terre train network. Sit back and watch the beautiful countryside roll past your window on the short ride to your first destination, Manarola.

Trekking in Cinque Terre

Not long ago, these five quaint towns on the Ligurian coast were isolated and unknown to most of the world. On this trip you will explore the wonderful natural harbors and streets of brightly painted houses that used to guide the fishermen ashore.

After some time to explore the charms of Manarola, follow your guide up the mountainside and along the ancient trails that locals have been traveling or centuries. Along the way you'll see vineyards that are perched up on rocks and see how the locals are able to farm such a mountainous area by laying levels of terraces.

You will continue your way down the mountain to the town of Corniglia. This quaint town is actually 300 feet above sea level! Discover the center of Corniglia as you walk through its narrow alleys, and take a break to enjoy a delicious local lunch of fresh seafood of other Cinque Terra specialties.

Lunch is not included with the tour, but your guide will be happy to recommend some great local dishes and restaurants.

Catch the Coastal Train

After lunch, the adventure continues by heading down to the little train station to head to the next destination, Vernazza. The towns are close to each other, so it's only about a 10-minute train ride. The colorful port of Vernazza is regarded as one of Italy's most beautiful villages, and is overlooked by a centuries-old castle high on the rocks. Enjoy some free time to take in the village's authentic Mediterranean charms before hopping back onto to coastal train to head to your next stop.
