Itinerary
Your tour begins in central Brussels
Meet your guide near the stairs of St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral, Brussels’ main Gothic church and a longtime city landmark. Take a minute to admire the pointed arches and stone carvings before you set off on foot with bilingual commentary in English and French.
Walk through the historic center toward Grand-Place
Follow your guide through central Brussels as narrow streets open into big civic squares and ornate façades. Along the way, learn how this old merchant city became the administrative heart of Belgium and, later, a key seat of the European Union.
Spot the beloved Manneken Pis
Next, stop at Manneken Pis, a tiny bronze fountain statue that locals adore. Your guide explains why this small, cheeky figure became so famous, then keeps the walk moving through the surrounding old-town lanes packed with classic Brussels street scenes.
Stroll under the Royal Galleries Saint-Hubert
Step into the Royal Galleries Saint-Hubert, an elegant 1800s covered shopping arcade with a glass roof, boutique storefronts, and café terraces. It’s like a historic indoor “main street” and one of the easiest places to picture Brussels’ Belle Époque style in real life.
Ride a panoramic coach loop past royal and civic landmarks
Then trade cobblestones for a comfortable coach as you see Brussels at a wider scale. As major buildings come into view, your guide shares what each area represents, from royal history to modern government.
Stop for exterior photos at the Atomium
Pull up for an exterior photo stop at the Atomium, a futuristic monument built for the 1958 World’s Fair that looks like a giant science model made of metal spheres. It’s one of Brussels’ most recognizable landmarks.
Continue to the battlefield site and Lion’s Mound area
After the city sights, head out to the historic battlefield landscape, enjoying key viewpoints around the Lion’s Mound area, a large hill topped by a lion statue built as a memorial to the famous 1815 battle fought here.
Return via the EU Quarter and Parc du Cinquantenaire
On the way back, pass through the EU Quarter, the district where many European Union institutions are based, which is why Brussels is often called the “capital of the EU.” You also pass by Parc du Cinquantenaire, a monumental city park with a grand triumphal arch built to celebrate Belgian independence.
Your tour ends at Central Station
Finally, arrive back in central Brussels at Central Station, the city’s main rail hub and an easy jumping-off point for the rest of your day. Leave with a clear mental map of the city’s headline sights, plus the bigger Belgium story tied to the countryside stop.
