Itinerary
Your tour begins in Berlin City Center
Meet your expert, licensed guide outside the Hopfingerbräu on Ebertstraße 24, right next to the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. After a brief introduction, board a short train ride to the memorial site.
Train travel and Tower A
On the train, your guide will share the history of the camp system's development from 1936 until 1945. Arrive at the memorial and enter through Tower A to learn how Sachsenhausen became the Third Reich's first purpose-built concentration camp.
SS Prison Block
Explore the central operational areas, including the Barrack Buildings where prisoners were housed, and the SS Prison Block—a site of isolation and torture. You will also visit the Infirmary Building and the Camp Kitchen, detailing the brutal conditions, daily life, and medical crimes within the perimeter.
Station Z and commemoration
Continue to Station Z, the chilling, purpose-built execution facility, to learn about the mass murders and the camp's liberation. You will also visit the Pathology Building and Mortuary Cellar, concluding your tour with a focused reflection on the memorial's profound significance.
Your tour finishes in Berlin city center
Conclude your memorial visit and take the train back to Berlin city center with your guide. This difficult but necessary experience offers profound historical empathy. Take a moment for quiet reflection as you return to Berlin.
