Overall, this was an excellent Pompeii and wine tasting experience. The tour guide on the Archaeological Park of Pompeii was experienced and full of knowledge. Then we arrived at a restaurant and was led down to a wine pairing lunch. The waiter was fun and full of knowledge of the food and wine. The lunch was one our best lunches in Naples. It was comparable to any wine pairing in our home of Sonoma County CA. We did only give the tour a 3 star as the official tour guide of the van was not very informative and should have known and told us before ascending Vesuvius that there are NO BATHROOMS once you enter the park (so 2 hours climb) and the only bathroom outside the park forced you to purchase something to use the bathroom. If expectations were explained, then this tour would have had a higher rating.

This was a full day excursion where everyone had to cooperate to stay on time. Lunch and wine tasting between Pompeii and Vesuvius was a much needed break but too rushed. We could have enjoyed the Vesu wine and food for much longer! We had a great guide, Thomás, at Pompeii, who helped us get the most from a short visit. We were lucky that the ruins were not crowded that day. Mt Vesuvius was a disappointment because of the fog. It was just a walk up a hill to over look the crater. A few informative signs. Probably should have spent more time in Pompeii.
