Itinerary

Your tour begins with private pickup

Your private driver meets you directly at your Rome hotel entrance in a comfortable, climate-controlled vehicle. Settle in for a relaxing drive south through the scenic Italian countryside toward the region of Campania.

Explore the preserved streets of Pompeii

Arrive at Pompeii Archaeological Park, buried under volcanic ash during the catastrophic eruption of 79 AD, and meet your archeologist guide. Walk along original stone roads past ancient bakeries, grand villas, public baths, and intact wall frescoes.

Examine ancient plaster casts and artifacts

Follow your expert guide into central public spaces to view preserved plaster casts of local residents. Learn how sudden volcanic fallout captured the exact physicality of Roman daily life in vivid detail.

Walk the volcanic slopes of Mt. Vesuvius

After your tour, travel up the winding roads of Mount Vesuvius National Park toward the summit area. Take a short break for lunch before beginning your scenic hike up the gravel paths leading toward the crater edge.

Peer into the active volcano crater

Reach the summit crater to meet a local volcanologist guide. Take in dramatic views of the Gulf of Naples while learning about the geology, history, and current monitoring of mainland Europe's active volcano.

Your tour finishes at your Rome hotel

Rejoin your driver for the comfortable return journey back to the capital. Your excursion ends with direct drop-off right at your hotel door, leaving you perfectly situated to enjoy your evening.
