Highly recommend this tour! Cat was a fantastic tour guide - very knowledgeable about the site and Roman history in general, easy to listen to, great sense of humour and extremely fluent in English. Ostia Antica was a fabulous site and the were no queues or crowds which we found remarkable considering the size and scope of the site!

Epic and Unforgettable Ostia Antica

The tour is well-organised and our guide Roberto was excellent. He was knowledgeable, personable and warm. Our family (parents and three teenage children) had an excellent time. We loved the flexibility of staying after the official part ended. We took advantage of it. We had lunch there and spent time exploring on our own. It was an incredible experience. It was the first time for my family but second for me….it exceeded my first experience from decades ago. We stretched our Half day tour to 8.5 hours door to door. While Rome has many impressive monuments and huge crowds, Ostia provides an amazing glimpse into the daily lives of Romans (and you feel like you have the place to yourself)…one can walk on mosaics, climb the stairs to multi level apartments, sit in ancient dining rooms, see ancient shops, visit an ancient restaurant etc. I highly recommend. Ostia port allowed Rome to become great by enabling the import of marbles, granites, grains and other vital supplies. An Absolutely epic place.

Super amazing tour with awesome guide

Rob was a completely amazing guide. It definitely helped that he was a completely fluent English speaker but beyond that his enthusiasm and knowledge really shined through and made the tour awesome. I really loved it and would recommend others do the same tour.

Don’t leave Rome without it!

This tour really shows the history of the ancient Roman’s life before Rome was founded and as a base to supply the city as it grew. One tenth of the crowds at the Forum, but much more enlightening. Alberto provided the perfect balance of history, humor, and humanity! This is a fantastic trip, Alberto made it so easy!

Great small-group tour

Very Informative Tour of Ostia Antica

What a great tour of Ostia Antica! Our guide Alberto was very informative and friendly, and our group had a great time taking the train to Ostia and exploring the ruins. I would recommend this tour if you want to take in ancient Roman ruins without the crowds of Rome.

Great excursion from Rome

Easy, short train ride from Rome, Ostia is a great little adventure to get away from the crowds. Our tour guide was passionate, professional,knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommended!
