Guide tips
Your tour begins at the Colosseum
Meet your guide and semi-private group near the base of Rome’s 2,000-year-old amphitheater. Your guide introduces the massive stone structure and the nearby Arch of Constantine. Learn how emperors used these grand monuments to show off their power to the people of Rome.
Enter the Colosseum through Gladiators Gate
Next, follow your guide through a mandatory security check before passing through the side entrance of the Colosseum, once used by the gladiators themselves. Then, step onto the exclusive arena floor, the stage level of the Colosseum. Standing on the wooden floor, look up at the rows of seats and imagine the roar of 50,000 spectators watching the games.
Explore the upper tiers
Then, your guide leads you to the higher levels of the amphitheater for the audience perspective and an overhead view of the maze of underground chambers. From these tiers, learn how different social classes were seated in ancient Rome and where the most important leaders sat to watch.
Visit the Roman Forum
Follow your guide into the valley that served as the busy center of the ancient city. Walk past the remains of the Senate House and the Temple of the Vestal Virgins while hearing stories about the daily lives and politics of ancient Roman citizens.
Ascend the Palatine Hill
Finally, climb the hill where legends say the city was first founded. Among the ruins of the grand imperial palaces, enjoy some of the best views of the city. Discover why the most powerful Romans chose to live in this neighborhood.

What a treat! We had a brilliant tour - only 10 people (we were a group of 4) and it felt fun and personal. Our guide was super knowledgeable, fun, moved at our pace and somehow we skipped magically past every single queue. The in-ear live audio guide was a brilliant touch. I’ve been to Rome & the Colosseum before but the Forum & Palatine Hill were so fascinating & our guide really brought it all alive for us. Highly recommended - loved it!

Seeing the colosseum and forum was amazing! Francesco took it to another level! His knowledge and ability to express his passion for the history made the tour! We had teens and younger children on the tour and he was the perfect guide to interact and involve them. He peaked not only their interest the entire duration of the tour but ours as well. We had a simply wonderful time, thank you Francesco!!!

I have nothing but great things to say about The Tour Guy, our experience with them was excellent.
Our time slot for our tour was at 11:00am, due to some issue we were running late and would not make it on time. At that point I called customer service and to my surprise an actual person answered, I explained my situation and the person who answered was understanding and help me out by sending me via text our tickets so we could catch up to our guide. I had a person stay in touch with me through out while she waited for us to arrive. She guided us to her, which was great because there was so many people. She gave us our paper tickets, texted me a picture of our tour guy and directed us where to meet him. Because of all of them going above and beyond for our family, we did not miss out on the experience to see and enjoy the Colosseum Tour.

The walking tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum was well organised. The meeting point was easy to find, and the administrative process worked smoothly. The tour guide was knowledgeable and provided clear information throughout. The tour lasted about 2½ hours, which felt appropriate for the areas covered. Overall, a solid and informative experience.

We had an excellent experience on our tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with our guide Bogdan. I’ve done this tour a few times and this was by far the best! He had us questioning historical events that prior we had thought were facts. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge and manages to share it in a humorous and entertaining way! He kept my 17 year old son engaged throughout! I’d like him to be our guide for every tour!

Our experience at the Forum and Colosseum wouldn’t have been the same if we did it ourselves. Our guide knew SO MUCH history and really made it come to life for us. Thank you, Gabriel, for sharing your expertise with us. For those questioning if you should schedule a tour, I strongly suggest you do. It’s worth every penny. Our experience would have been mediocre (at best) if we did it ourselves. Thank you, Gabriel and The Roman Guy!
Amazing tour!
