Meet your guide at Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi
Your tour begins in central Naples at Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, where a representative waits by the main square. You meet your local guide, check in for the day, and get a quick overview of the journey to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.
Ride from Naples to Pompeii by coach
Settle into your comfortable, air-conditioned coach and leave Naples behind. As you drive toward Pompeii, your guide introduces the Bay of Naples, the 79 AD eruption, and what to look for among the ruins once you arrive at the archaeological site.
Explore the ruins of Pompeii with your guide
On arrival, you use skip-the-line tickets to enter Pompeii quickly and start exploring the ancient streets. You follow your guide past villas, bathhouses, and the forum while hearing how daily life looked here before Mount Vesuvius buried the city in ash.
See Pompeii’s iconic landmarks and plaster casts
You continue through key areas like the Temple of Apollo and residential neighborhoods lined with frescoes and mosaics. Along the way, you pause at the haunting plaster casts that preserve the final poses of Pompeii’s residents and learn how archaeologists created them.
Enjoy free time for lunch near Pompeii
After the guided portion, you leave the ruins and have free time around the entrance area. This is your chance to choose a local restaurant or café for lunch, pick up a snack, or browse souvenir shops before heading toward Mount Vesuvius.
Drive up Mount Vesuvius and hike to the crater
Back on the coach, you climb the slopes of Mount Vesuvius to a high parking area with sweeping views. From here, an official alpine guide leads you on a 30-minute trail to the crater rim, where you look into the volcano and see the Bay of Naples spread out below.
Your tour finishes back at Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi
After your hike, you return to the coach for a relaxing drive back to Naples. By the time you arrive at Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, you’ve walked ancient streets, stood on an active volcano, and learned how this landscape shaped the history of southern Italy.

Dress Code: Comfortable shoes are essential for the 30-minute hike up the volcano's slopes.
Weather Advisory: The hike up Mount Vesuvius is strictly subject to favorable weather conditions. If poor weather prohibits access to Mount Vesuvius, you will be offered skip-the-line tickets to Herculaneum instead.
Accessibility: This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with significant mobility issues, as it involves walking over uneven ruins and a 30-minute semi-strenuous hike up a volcano.
Please Note: Your local guide will not hike Mount Vesuvius with you; you will be accompanied by an official alpine guide for the trek to the crater's edge.
Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in at the meeting point so the group can enter sites on time.

Had an amazing tour of Pompeii and Mt Versuvius. Our guide Isabella was fantastic and managed the group well as well as provide expert commentary in Pompeii. Hiking Mt Versuvius was an incredible experience and really has to be done. Highly recommend this tour

This was a great tour of the Pompeii ruins and Mt. Vesuvius Well orchestrated tour and Iamme la, the tour company did a fantastic job with time management. The archeologist at Pompeii was very detailed and explained the key aspects. Angie, the tour guide from Iamme la was great as well Enough time for us to climb up to the Mt. Vesuvius crater Overall a wonderful tour and would recommend this Of course, age and fitness is a key factor

Our Pompei tour was amazing. We had two guides; one that got us to Pompei and Vesuvius and one that took us through Pompei. Our guide in Pompei itself was really interesting and I left understanding the city the cataclysm that destroyed it far better than I ever had before. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The guide that made sure we all made it on and off the bus and that no one got lost on Vesuvius was also great. He dressed in a distinctive way so that he was easy to spot, he was funny, and he made sure my kids got front seats on the bus, so that they didn't get motion sick. Both Pompei and Vesuvius were amazing places. The city in particular is huge and it helped so much to have a guide who could talk about the different parts of it and shed light on what the different buildings were used for.

Before we booked this tour, I read every review and finally decided on this company. I am so glad I did! This is a really great tour. You are so fortunate if you get Roberta as your guide. She knows so much about the area, and she could answer any question our group had. Also, she was so thoughtful; she tried to keep us in the shade whenever possible.

We had Isabella (and Andrea as our driver) and she was incredible! She knew so much about the city of Pompeii and you could tell she was so passionate about it too! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes as the hike is steep and Pompeii has LOTS of walking. Only 2 hours in Pompeii, but it was a great chance to see the important stuff and make sense of what everything was. I couldn’t recommend enough!

If a visit to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii is on your "to-do" list and you don't want to have to navigate local transit, this tour works. You won't get to visit the museum at Pompeii, which was a disappointment for us. We have had better Tour Guy tours at other locations.
