Meet Your Chef and Explore the Market
The tour begins in the heart of Milan by the info point at the famous Mercato Centrale. After a quick introduction, it’s time to go shopping! Milan’s central grocery market is one of the most important places in Milanese food culture. Home to local botteghe and vendors of wines, meats, vegetables, and more, the market is a great way to get a glimpse into local life in the city.
Enjoy insider tips as your chefs will show you how to choose the freshest local ingredients that you'll cook later in the kitchen, and you'll taste a few local favorites along the way too. For Italians, the cooking process begins not in the kitchen but at the market!
Cooking Class in a Milanese Kitchen
Once your shopping is done, you’ll return to the kitchen where your cooking class will begin. Watch closely as the chef demonstrates the intricacies of each dish and the culinary techniques that have been passed down through generations. They'll be on hand throughout to make sure your dishes turn out just perfect!
You'll create a full meal from appetizer to dessert, all made with local Milanese produce. The exact menu varies by time of year to provide the best dishes with in-season ingredients, but expect a starter like cheese fondue, a homemade pasta with an authentic regional sauce, then a beautiful Italian dessert.
Sit-Down Lunch with Cheese & Wine
Once you’ve created your culinary masterpieces, you'll sit down with your group to enjoy your meal along with local cheeses and a couple of glasses of amazing Italian wine. Buon Appetito!
The bonus? We want you to be able to recreate the delicious dishes of Milan when you get home, so you'll be given your very own booklet of recipes, as well a graduation certificate to show your mastery of Milanese cookery.
