We debated paying for a tour vs. just buying an official ticket for entry to the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill. We went with the tour and we are so glad we did!!! Eleanor was great! We had a fantastic time on our tour. Our guide, Gabriele was extremely knowledgeable and able to provide a comprehensive picture of both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum while answering a lot of detailed questions!
We went on a very rainy day but Gabriele did a great job modifying his tour route to get us a bit of cover while also providing incredible context for the area we visited (which also allowed us to see some active restoration work of frescoes).
Particularly with the Roman Forum, with the complex and continuous use of the space over time, it would have been really hard to figure out what we were looking at while we were walking around, so would definitely recommend this tour and our guide!
